The Second Inquisition

The term coined by vampires, due to its similarity to the First Inquisition that warranted the formation of the Camarilla. The Second Inquisition is an ongoing event wherein a coalition of Hunters - street-level cells to larger Orgs - are working with intelligence agencies such as the FBI, CIA, KGB, etc. to exterminate vampires.

History

Early 2010's

Believed to have technically started in the early 2000's. The Second Inquisiton wasn't a commonly known witch-hunt of vampires and other supernatural creatures until the 2010's. Even in 2012, the year of the Fall of London, and the fall of other cities (like Vienna), the Second Inquisition was a rumour. A maybe-real boogeyman amongst vampires. After the city-wide extermination of vampires and other supernatural creatures in several cities across the world. The SI's threat was accepted as very real. Forcing most supernaturals to take greater care in hiding their existence.

Modern 2020's

Neither quite a hot-war or cold-war. The Second Inquisition still actively hunt vampires and other supernatural creatures. But where it was a series of large-scale extermination events in the 2010's, now in the 2020's it is more small-scale skirmishes. The SI are now an everpresent threat waiting behind information-gathering services like the FBI, NSA, KGB, etc.; or curious Hunters sticking their noses where they don't belong. Until said information-services confirms a supernatural creature's existence. At which point the SWATS, spec-ops, zealous paladins and desperate street-Hunter go on the hunt.
