Geography

Pawnee is a normative wet terrestrial world with 2 polar icecaps. the planet is dominated by wide open prairie plains broken up by hill lands with many small bodies of water. scattered throughout the prairie lone standing Buttes and Mesas can be found. surrounding the 2 polar ice caps are belts of hilly terrain with many smaller lakes. water from the icecaps forms rivers that flows into an enormous inland waterbody, known as The Mirror Sea.

Fauna & Flora

The Imperator Bison or King Bison is a large bovine creature native to Pawnee. Thriving on the vast grassland plains present on Pawnee, it is often found in big herds. The King Bison is a strong and hardy creature, able to survive in a wide range of temperatures and climates. its diet consists of grasses, roots and leaves. Its hide is thick and durable, providing protection from predators and the elements. The meat of the King Bison is highly prized for its flavor and nutritional value. while many still exist wild it has seen widespread domestication for agricultural use due to its meat, hide and milk. with domesticated variants of the King Bison have been relocated by humans to other planets with pastoral plains.

In addition to the King Bison, Pawnee is home to a variety of flora and fauna. There are numerous species of grasses, shrubs, trees, and other plants that can be found in the plains, hills, and lakes of Pawnee. The waters of The Mirror Sea are home to a variety of fish, crustaceans, and other aquatic life. The planet is also home to a variety of small mammals, birds, and reptiles.

History

The planet Pawnee was colonized sometime during the Galactic Imperial Era. The original colonists were drawn by the planet's abundance of wide open prairie plains, hill lands, and bodies of water. With the empire seeing the potential for developing the world into a pastoral paradise and set about establishing trade routes and settlements. The society that developed on Pawnee is largely agricultural, with the majority of the population living and working on the rural farms and ranches that are scattered throughout the planet. The planet is also home to a number of small towns and cities, which are home to the merchants, craftsmen, and other tradesmen who support the rural lifestyle.
When the empire descended into a civil war, the existing colonial government continued running Pawnee. Despite the war, Pawnee was mostly untouched by the warring parties and managed to wager its agriculture output to satisfy the needs of passing fleets. Its people were also able to cultivate their previous trade relations with Zygerrian traders in order to deter subjugation, though some raids did occur.
As the war progressed and it become less and less likely a new imperial overlord would be found, the government declared it self an independent republic. This change ushered in more representation of the commoner in the government. When the Pawnee Government learned that several of its trading partners were in the process of establishing the Outer Rim Confederacy, it was the logical choice for Pawnee to join due to its desire to maintain its agricultural lifestyle and its reliance on these trade routes. Joining the ORC allowed the people of Pawnee to maintain their independence and continue to thrive in the face of the changing galactic landscape.
