Moheka

Geography

Moehka is a forest covered world with two enormous lakes formed by the slow drainage of meltwater originating from seasonal thawing of the polar ice caps. across Mohekas surface inbetween the tall trees, there are many tall narrow rock formations forming wild stone pilars. some caves can be found in the forest covered mountains, hills and cliffsides.

Fauna & Flora

The forested landscapes of Moheka harbor an array of flora and fauna that have adapted to its unique environment. Towering trees with bioluminescent foliage create an eerie yet enchanting glow as night falls. Moss-covered pathways wind their way through the dense fern undergrowth, while vibrant flora release fragrant scents that permeate the air. Among the sprawling woods and shimmering lakes, an intricate ecosystem thrives. From the secretive movements of insects and lizards to the spirited chase of predators and prey. Wildlife like the Mossback Boar, Lumiodeer and Glimmershade Songbird make life pulse through the forests of Moheka.
Among its many creatures, the most infamous is the Terminox. In the heart of Moheka's lush forests, an awe-inspiring yet perilous phenomenon known as the Terminox Swarm has become a defining feature of the planet's ecosystem. This annual event brings forth colossal insectoid creatures, each the size of a large dog, in a synchronized wave of predation, changing the landscape as they feed and reproduce. The Terminox are massive insectoid creatures. These formidable beings boast segmented exoskeletons that provide both protection and natural armor. Their mandibles, powerful enough to rip through trees and stone alike, snap shut with bone-crushing force. The Terminox have evolved to become fearsome predators, adept at hunting down prey with coordinated movements and terrifying efficiency. In addition to their mighty mandibles, the Terminox wield a potent natural acid that acts as both a weapon and a tool. This corrosive substance allows them to break down trees and stone, facilitating their relentless advance through even the most formidable barriers. As the swarm advances, it transforms the landscape, stripping away vegetation and consuming everything in its path. Moheka's inhabitants have adapted to the danger posed by the Terminox Swarm with fortifications and attempts at redirection through natural means. Some wildlife have evolved to act as natural deterrents to the Terminox, whether through pheromones, camouflaging behaviors, or outright combat, while others are driven to flee from the swarm's advance.   The Terminox Swarm has generated a wealth of stories and legends among Moheka's population. Tales of brave individuals who've ventured into the swarm's midst to retrieve vital resources or rescue loved ones have become the stuff of lore.

History

During Imperial times, historical records indicate that Moheka remained mostly uncolonized, dotted with scattered outposts across its landscape. The majority of these outposts were established for research purposes, although some were employed for forestry endeavors or served as exclusive hunting retreats for the affluent elite. A handful even functioned as military training grounds and symbols of token security. However, as the galactic civil war erupted, these once-active outposts were left abandoned and in disrepair.   In the midst of the Dark Ages, a significant turning point occurred when a slave rebellion broke out among oppressed captives who had long suffered under Zygerrian Masters. Pursued relentlessly by Zygerrian slave hunters, the rebellion was pushed from one planet to another. Strangely, when these fugitive slaves arrived on Moheka, the Zygerrian pursuers appeared in orbit over the planet, yet after a brief presence, they inexplicably departed, abandoning their pursuit. It was as if the Zygerrians possessed a foreboding awareness of something ominous about Moheka that remained concealed from the slaves.   Those who successfully found refuge on Moheka were remnants of the rebellion, and they stumbled upon several derelict outposts—structures that had been forsaken and abandoned for centuries. With determination, these survivors reclaimed, renovated, and expanded these structures into functional settlements. Though the initial growth was gradual, the onset of the Galactic Civil War's aftermath triggered an influx of displaced individuals to Moheka. These newcomers contributed to the expansion of the settlements, creating a surge of activity that inadvertently attracted an ancient and lurking presence hidden within the depths of the world's expansive forests—the Terminox.   The settlements, particularly the larger ones, faced relentless annual waves of Terminox attacks. While substantial settlements were equipped to repel these seasonal onslaughts to a reasonable extent, smaller outposts were often subjected to complete extermination. Over time, the collective realization dawned upon the inhabitants that unity was their only hope for survival against the inexorable Terminox threat. As a response to this peril, the world government was established, facilitating collaboration among the diverse settlements and outposts to ensure their survival from one season to the next.   Mohekan society, shaped by these struggles, fostered an ethos of limited contact with other populated worlds. This isolationist approach aligned with their desire for self-sufficiency and protection against external influences. Consequently, only a handful of intrepid merchants ventured to the planet, forming the tenuous threads of external connections. Despite this isolation, Moheka became informed of the emergence of the Outer Rim Confederacy (ORC) through these sporadic interactions.   Given its strategic position among the ORC member worlds, Moheka's inclusion became imperative to maintain the unity and control of the Confederacy's territory. The threat posed by the annual Terminox wave made Moheka's membership crucial for securing the ORC's established domain. With an interest in ensuring guaranteed assistance to confront the formidable Terminox challenge, Moheka willingly joined the ranks of the Outer Rim Confederacy.   This tumultuous history of survival, adaptation, and unity serves as a testament to Moheka's resilient inhabitants and their ability to forge alliances even in the face of enigmatic and unrelenting forces.
