Ipsidon
Geography
Ipsidon, a harsh and desolate world, is characterized by rocky red outcroppings and charred terrain as far as the eye can see. On the planet's surface, settlements and mining operations are scattered amidst this unforgiving landscape. These outposts often take the form of underground cities or heavily fortified mining complexes, as the surface is prone to violent sandstorms that can devastate anything in their path.
Localized Phenomena
Ipsidon is infamous for its treacherous sandstorms. These storms are capable of creating electrified atmospheres, resulting in lightning bolts that streak across the sky, adding to the chaos. During these tempestuous events, the native creatures known as Ibisidon bucks are often provoked into stampeding through the canyons in an effort to escape the tumultuous weather. Miners and inhabitants must take shelter in the depths of the planet's underground settlements to survive the fury of Ipsidon's sandstorms.
Fauna & Flora
The Ibisidon bucks are the dominant native species of Ipsidon. These quadrupedal creatures possess striking blue fur with a contrasting white underbelly and sport three horns: two atop their heads and a single, formidable horn positioned between their eyes. During times of impending sandstorms, these herding creatures exhibit a remarkable instinct to flee the surface, stampeding through the labyrinthine canyons of Ipsidon to reach safety.
In addition to the Ibisidon bucks, Ipsidon is home to other, more elusive native creatures that have adapted to the planet's harsh environment. Some have evolved unique camouflage to avoid predators, while others have developed specialized means of extracting sustenance from the planet's rocky terrain.
Natural Resources
The primary resource that drives Ipsidon's economy is ipsium, a highly volatile and combustible mineral. It is found in abundance on Ipsidon, both in caves hidden beneath the planet's surface and submerged in underwater caverns. In its raw form, ipsium is a blue crystal-like substance encasing a yellow liquid core. Miners must employ strict safety protocols when extracting and handling ipsium due to its explosive nature.
Once refined, ipsium has a multitude of applications. It serves as a powerful fuel source for starships and industrial processes, as well as a key component in the production of explosives. The mining processes on Ipsidon also yield significant quantities of iron and bauxite, which are often extracted alongside ipsium and contribute to the planet's economic significance.
History
Ipsidon is a vital holding within the vast dominion of the Zygerrian Slave Empire. While ipsium mining forms the core of Ipsidon's economy, the relationship with the Zygerrian Slave Empire adds complexity to the planet's dynamics. The Empire's presence ensures a steady supply of labor for mining operations, including enslaved individuals from various corners of the galaxy. Ipsidon's mineral wealth, combined with its status as a significant slave hub, has solidified its place as a pivotal asset within the Zygerrian Slave Empire's sprawling dominion.
