Valued for their trustworthiness and speed, these colourful avian creatures have been used by the upper classes for sporting and prestige. while it has also seen some use by rural folk. as the most reliable way of navigating the narrow and treacherous mountain paths, while still maintaining an ability to reach high speeds on the open plains. even causing the Hursan Hussars to having retained a Squadron of riders. though mostly for ceremonial use, they do provide additional options for scouting that is more stealthy than most vehicles.

History

During the Galatic Civil war Hursan, established itself as an Independant, single world, kingdom. being left mostly to its own devices for the duration of the war. after the Rebirth of the empire, the Dominion sought out to reclaim lost territories. one among them being Hursan Prime
The Hursanites managed to fight a successfully defensive campaign halting the advance of the Imperial army in a mountain pass. forming a dangerous funnel for anyone foolish enough to attempt breaking through. here the hursanite forces managed to hold back the imperial forces for several weeks. this forced the imperial military to rethink their approach. after a hard fought campaign from the marshes and up into the mountains, a Kaasian regiment opened up the passage of the pass by now controlling one of mountain sides. this action both earned that regiment its honorific title of "Rangers" as well as it allowed the imperial army to continue its advance on the capital city.

At this time the Hursanite king, knew that he had done what he could to retain honour, and that if he resisted for too much longer the empire wouldn't be willing to negotiate. Acting quick before losing his last bargaining chip, the capital, the envoys of the Hursanite king reach out to the empire for negotiations. quickly a deal was struck and a treaty signed. Hursan would fall under the Dominion of the Polympian throne. it would remain a fief of the newly titled Viceroy of Hursan.

Due to the successfully preservation of Hursanite culture, there are some words that are different, as well as some legal and religious concepts. Hursanites put higher focus on worship of blood in the name of Dominus, compared to the regular fire, sun and light based worship, which has led to a minor split often leading to discussion amongst theologians. They also have a legal concept of punitive servitude until death, known locally as "Armata Stregoi".
