Nephi Austin Castleburry (a.k.a. little scholar, Dr. Castleburry)
A young first year
Miskatonic University student from the Deseret Providence of the
Empire of 3 Suns. While he would have preferred to attend school in
San Diego, 5 generations of his family have attended Miskatonic University. While he is skeptical of the supernatural, his adventures at Miskatonic will open his eyes. For better or worse.
Mental characteristics
Born to Jacobson and Amelia Castleburry in Salt Lake City, Nephi had acess to the best library and school in the providence. Growing up as a studious boy, he was a clear favorit to receive the family scholorship to
Miskatonic University.
Nephi went to Seagal Lilly school in Salt Lake City and showed talent for learning new languages. By age 13 he was tutering other students his age in learning Japanese, Spanish, and Chinese. During his summers off school, Nephi loved to visit his extended family in Provo and help with the farm and moonshine operation there.
As Nephi prepaired for university, his goal was to study diplomacy in San Diego. However financial constraints forced him to change his plans. Due to his families history with Miskatonic University, he was able to gain a scholorship to help pay for his tuition. Fearing a diploma from Miskatonic would harm his diplomacy chances, Nephi changed his studies to archiology. It is his hope to join the universities expiditions to Egypt and help uncover the newly found Valley of the Kings.
Much to his parents disapointment, Nephi does not fully share his families faith. Taking some inspiration from his family in Provo, Nephi prefears to rely on his senses instead of faith. Not having many if any spiritual experiances in his youth, Nephi is unsure if the supernateral exists at all. His parents hope that his time in Miskatonic will help open his eyes.
Personality Characteristics
Nephi has a strong motivation to investigate mysteries and find the answers to all of life's questions. While he will never admit it, he doesn't accpet that there is any question beyond answering.
At home he is influenced to leave 'worldly' things and beilefs
He is very confident in his own abilities and is used to people respecting him for his talents. This has led him to demand respect even if it isn't fully earned. He is always willing to jump head long into any challenge as he views them as opportunities.
He has trouble with those in authority if they don't meet his expectations. When it comes to his personal life he doesn't feel anyone has more authority than himself to dectate what he should and shouldn't do.
