Leyline

Leylines are magical pathways between prominent structures and monuments (sources of magical energy). They can be viewed as "rivers of natural energy" that flow across Cier. Leylines are not visible to the naked eye, and can only be detected with special instrumentation or techniques.
The alignments and routes that compose a leyline network offer a way to rapidly communicate information across vast distances. Different factions have claimed ownership over certain leylines, and may enforce fees in exchange for access.
For example, a citizen in Aegis Town sending an inquiry to The Dojo might want to use the The Dojo leyline, which is free for public use. Alternatively, in exchange for some nemtraks, they may want to physically teleport there via Clan Nemesis's leyline.
Since leylines are ancient, and are formed naturally by geographic forces, they are not very well understood. Despite this, they provide an integral part of Cier's transportation and communication infrastructure.
