Varani

Varani are massive, pseudo-reptilian species, 9 feet of muscle and distinct scales, equally adept on two legs as on four.
Historically, they have been at odds with the Ogron also native to the lower jungles of Venus. Varani aggression just as often turn on itself, stifling their growth. Their technology and culture haven't made significant strides in centuries, but they will adapt technology they find.
Clans of Varani still exist in the deep jungles, clusters of families in remote villages. They avoid outside influence whenever possible, to the point of being hard to prove their existence except by word of mouth.
Origin of species: the traits considered reptilian by Humanity are found in many species on Venus. However, their origin is more mineralogical then on Earth, resulting in incredibly dense creatures, though sometimes surprisingly brittle.

Designs: Native Varani equipment is of very limited technological development. They have developed an innate sense for the best native materials, often more ornate than Venetian, more useable than Ogron.

Camouflage: born with scale patterns reminiscent of their jungle home, a subdermal layer of light-sensitive pigments enables individuals to blend in to many backgrounds

Cold-blooded: Reptilian physiology results in a reduction in reactions in cooler climates, and potential muscle damage.

Clawed: Massive natural weapons, as equally capable of digging into flesh as into stone.

Bulky: A significant amount of muscle mass results in an easy target, but a natural hardiness makes individuals hard to take down.
