Iro Character in Stelair | World Anvil

Iro

Diviner of Fates, Weaver of Reality, Keeper of the Arcane, The Brooding Sorcerer, The First Spellcaster

Standoffish and easy to anger. Iro cares little about mortals, he is much more interested in what they can do. Their minds tackling problems and digging through mysteries much greater then any of them. And yet, sometimes, they are able to overcome these immense tasks. It is what interests the god of magic about them. He is unwilling to give much to them, wishing for them to figure things out on their own. To that end he personally sends servants and avatars to test those who catch his eye. From their work, their abilities, or sometimes even their potential.

Order of the Challengers

This collection of magic users are untied in a singular purpose, to take Iro's spot as god of magic. They greatly respect everything the god has given them and appreciate any challenge he sends their way. But they believe that Iro's will is for someone to prove powerful and knowledgeable enough in the arcane arts to take his place in godhood. For this purpose is the reason members of this order commit themselves to fervent study and research. Early in the orders founding a renown diviner prophesied that one day a chosen one would come to them and take everything the order has learned oust Iro. Because of this the order shares everything they learn with each other, and most to outsiders.

Mix, The Illusionist

Mix is a sprite who wears purple robes and glows a dark pink. It has been known to find arcanists of interest and harass them for weeks. Conjuring terrifying creatures and deadly situations to "test" their target. Though Mix has been known to treat their task with an overabundance of glee. They are a powerful illusionist and their illusions are a difficult thing to be broken. Though if you are able to catch Mix it is said it will leave you alone.

The Warden

A small stocky creature of about 4 feet in height. Its back is hunched and is wrapped in a dirty brown robe. His skin is splotchy brownish green and ears are more like flaps that cover holes in the side of his head. He has three fingers and is constantly leaning on a gnarled cane. If you catch his interest, the Warden will test your skills of ward breaking. Either locking the person inside of several, blocking off a way out, or stealing something of importance and encasing it within several wards. He is not a pleasant creature and will eventually get annoyed and leave if the subject of his test takes to long. Not bothering to undo the wards he had cast.

Defiance

This angel is encased completely in a metal suit, making it 9 ft tall. A holy light shines from the eye holes of the helmet and the center of each of its palms. Defiance's only has one task and that is to seek out those practicing the art of necromancy. Specifically those raising the dead. They are said to be able to neutralize all magic around them at will and eradicate anything with its holy light. Defiance does not say or care about much else aside from its mission.

Carago the Wise

Carago is a purple dragon with glowing pink symbols adorning his body. Unlike other servants of Iro, Carago seeks to help those who seek knowledge of the unknown. It is said he visits those who are trying to find answers in their most desperate hour. He is thought to be patience and kind. Willing to take all the time needed to help the needy.

Threads of the Arcane

More of a guidebook then a holy tome, the book is the first thing magic users are told to read. It gives the basic understanding of magic and how to manipulate it. The simple but informative teachings have spread far beyond the covers of this book and have become the core structure of magic casting.
