Steam & Steel: The Rift

Created by

In the year 1918, The Great War has reached a bloody stalemate. Attempts to stay ahead of the opposing armies leads to rapid development of military technology and tactics. The European powers begin tapping into the potential of steam, alternating current technology, and eventually diesel powered war machines all in order to create new weapons of mass destruction.   In the United States, having been propelled by a sudden economic boom due to the demand for work thanks to the war, begins building up is diesel war machine with flying battleships, bipedal tanks, and guns that fire fast enough to wipe out battalions. The neighboring allied nation of Japan has also begun following in the United States' footsteps, building a military force led by a newly reconstituted samurai class due to the dire need for leadership.   In a last ditch effort behind the scenes, however, followers of an occult organization known as "The Children of the Rift" perform a ritual under blood red moon on October 31st, 1918. The intended purpose was to put an end to The Great War by using a summoned rift to transport the commanding leaders of each nation away, if not kill them. However, the ritual proved too effective and the cultists, underestimating its power, ended up transporting each capital city (as well as small chunks of territory) of every nation involved through the rift(s).   Now, the capital cities and their inhabitants find themselves separated from the world and war they once knew. Now in another dimension, they find themselves situated on a world they refer to as Terra Perdita, a world where what was though impossible is actually commonplace. Magic, monsters, demons, angels, alchemy, and technology all regin supreme in this beautiful yet terrifying world.   There remains only one question left: Will the stranded cities come to a resolution in this unknown world? Or are grudges more difficult to let go of than previously thought?
