EPISODE: A New Visitor - 3/15

A young woman disembarks a docked ship, and draws attention to herself due to lacking a biotrace.

Episode Summary

[Cold Open: Aldoney is standing on in-port, leaning on top of the console and resting jer chin on folded hands. Je sighs as je looks out over the currently empty approach. Encardia startles jer as she suddenly pops out from behind one of the bulkheads. She ribs Aldoney for not paying attention to jer surroundings, and apologises for scaring jer. Aldoney denies being startled, but laughs when Cardia suggests that je can get her back next time she's on monitors. Aldoney calls nothing to report, and Encardia starts talking about relieving jer early - when the computer picks up something.]
[Act 1]
[Scene 1: There seems to be a ship approaching the station. It reads as the Vincent Van Gogh, a civilian cargo ship registered to Earth. This is a bit weird, since the position of the station doesn't match the ship's purported flight plan - or it does, but in a year and a half. Aldoney thinks this is suspicious, but Encardia shrugs it off and suggests that the computer is bugging out again because EFS7 just came out of FTL. The Van Gogh requests to dock, and Encardia instructs Aldoney to send the request up to central command for confirmation since the ship isn't in the schedule. The request comes back confirmed, and Aldoney clears the Van Gogh to dock. Getting a weird vibe suddenly, Encardia calls additional security to in-port and says she's heading up to records to confirm the ship's flight plan.]
[Scene 2: On her way to records, Encardia runs into Tarehn in the corridor. He asks if everything is ok since he noticed extra security be called to in-port. Encardia says its just precaution since an unscheduled ship is approaching. Rehn accepts this and asks if Cardia is still up to play board games after evening shift. She says she is and they part ways.]
[Scene 3: Encardia has made it to records and is standing at a console. After staring at it for a second, she calls to a human crewman and asks how to spell 'Vincent Van Gogh'. They oblige, and comment that it's a bit of a weird name for a ship. Encardia doesn't know who Van Gogh is, and the crewman says he was a famous painter. Encardia agrees that it's a weird name for a cargo ship. The flight plan loads, and she notes that the Van Gogh was supposed to be coming from Stellar Platform E5142B. She pings cartography for where that is. While she's waiting, Idran messages her saying he heard she met Tarehn. She replies that she hopes he's ready to lose later, and Idran quips that he's a ludo champion. Cartography gets back, and Encardia is confused. Stellar Platform E5142B is two years away from where the station currently is.]
[Scene 4: Anjaria is reading the Van Gogh's flight plan while Encardia is on viz from records. She agrees that things don't add up and authorises Encardia to run a background check on the ship and its captain. Encardia asks if she's playing board games later, and Anjaria replies maybe - she might be caught up writing a report on the VVG. Encardia tells her to make sure she eats tonight, and Anjaria replies that she's not her mother. Encardia retorts that she'll tell her mother. Anjaria wishes her good luck on that, since her mother has an encrypted telecom frequency. Encardia replies that she's a good hacker - then gets another call. It's Aldoney, the Van Gogh has docked, and there's something weird about one of the disembarking passengers.]
