Traveler

Traveler

'The Traveler' crashed to Earth and was discovered by Alaskan citizens in 1937, and was almost immediately snatched up by government agencies. The dormant and deactivated robotic corpse was passed around between many groups, but ultimately found itself in the Starlight Central Museum of Historical Remembrance for a couple decades until one day it awoke and vanished. No one knows where it came from, what it is, or where it goes when it vanishes- but it doesn't seem to be an enemy.

"You find yourself standing in a cave. The sounds of water dripping from the top of the cavern falling before you. A green light slowly starts to form as in your hands is a large rod with a green floating wisp of energy. The orb expands out as you rise 20 feet into the air and an oak throne covered in vines appears behind you, runes inscribing into the vibes. Around you, the stone gets overcome with grass and dirt and trees. The sound of growling starts to take root as screeching comes from the skies, as the once cavern ceiling is now replaced with raining clouds. You look to the north and there's a small little lake."   The Anomalies are the first to arrive on the scene of the factory district's attack. Combat begins with multiple magic-based plant creatures. Daybreak ends up searching holes below the factory and finds a nesting site with eggs and monster along with a magical door portal, which Reason investigates to find out that it's an ancient druidic magic linked to a staff made in the name of a god Demogra. The Traveler forces a view into the portal, and it sees up a hill a man sitting on an Oak throne with his staff surrounded by vast forestry and the sky filled with red clouds, raining.   The Traveler and Reason argue about whether humans should or shouldn't involve themselves in dimensional research, before Daybreak gets ripped through the portal. The Traveler kidnaps the rest of the group and takes them to the dimension, but Penny and Bulwark try to prevent it, and get angry when it teleports them. They appear in the nature dimension and have a conversation with The Weed, the user of the staff, and he seeks a superhero vs supervillain fight, and summons Alphez the dragon and several other monsters. They get Daybreak and then teleport out, and everyone but Reason leaves immediately, furious. Reason and the Traveler discuss it and come to no common grounds before ending the conversation. Meanwhile, the other 3 discuss the Traveler and what happened.   Penny plans to move since the Traveler knows her address and is taken in by Bulwark. The three have really cute family moments while the Traveler sulks alone. Aiden gets Laura into baseball. The Traveler meanwhile has its dimensional drive slowly turn green, as its mind goes into a black void once again, as green energy floods through. "How did you encounter my brother and sister." A voice asks. The Traveler denies knowing what it speaks of, and the voice becomes angry and threatens the Traveler. "You will have your first taste of emotion, Traveler." The green becomes a red, and passion burns in the Traveler. Anger at what, who knows, but an anger, until it gets directed at the voice and the energy.   The perspective changes to several hours. Somewhere out in the middle of America, there is a small sheep farm. From it, a crack of lightning, and a body drops. You stand up, your eyes blurry, you place a hand on the ground. Confusion spreads and you look up 'Fuck fuck, how, he sent me here." You pick up your shield, confused as to where you are. "Fuck I have to go find them, don't I?" You fly up, taking off into the sky.   NOTE: The staff seems to absorb energy. It absorbed Daybreak's heat vision and started an attempt to absorb the dimensional energy from the Traveler's Drive before it could teleport away.

(Session 5)
July 10th-July 12th, 2022

The session starts with a recap, and we begin breaking down the next 3 days, starting with Daybreak. He calls Reason and plans a date at the Milky Way. He makes some killer soup before getting distracted by a car chase in the distance, where some store robbers get stopped. He looks for a stolen necklace, fails to find it, and returns home before the soup goes cold, in under a minute. He then proceeds to call a friend, Simon, to get his suit fixed from its damage. The focus switches to Reason and her living quarters, and how messy it is. As she's looking through the news, she sees that the shipping workers recall a strange incident, and Kane's Construction is under fire for employee misconduct. A news reporter from the White Hole network interviews Madame Magma, and Shark Man, two members of the Ultimates who announce their engagement. A civil war in Europe is discussed briefly before being overshadowed by lighter coverage of puppies and kittens. Reason focuses on tinkering with a healing invention for an hour before going above ground. Emily Letview at Haven Incorporated seems to be Reason's assistance and informs her of her schedule and such. She hears about a great power that landed in China within the last year, and has been having issues with a rebellion force, Rings of Freedom, and an enemy country named Zoran. Reason gets ready for her date with Reason, but in the meanwhile catches up with her paperwork until a meeting is due. Looking through the reports and paperwork, she sees an update on Experiment 27, they have been showing an increased interest in art, lately. There are multiple different drawings on their wall. Reason updates her procedures and says to include further artistic supplies in the containment facility and observe the results. Another update says Lazarus seeks permission to hold a church sermon for an hour every Sunday in the recreation room. Reason says that permission will be authorized upon confirmation from the Head of Ministry Affairs for the sector, forwarding the message to them, sending along a paper requesting signatures from other patients willing to attend the sermons.   Reason and Daybreak meet up for a date, with Daybreak going without costume. Reason immediately recognizes him. They briefly discuss, before moving inside. The Milky Way has an otherworldly feel to it. There's a stage, and on the stage is a darkskin woman with red hair, singing jazz. On her neck is a large green diamond. Meanwhile, the two discuss various topics, before entering the area of discussing how Daybreak is not a fan of the GDD and doesn't like being told what to do. Daybreak goes on to ask Reason if she knows Dove's address, or if she can get it to him, so that he may deliver meds and comfort food. Reason says she'd rather call Dove first and proceeds to call her on the phone and asks if one of the teammates can visit. Dove says so long as it isn't The Traveler, who has been visiting every day. Reason and Daybreak exchange numbers and discuss some more, before it cuts to Bulwark's morning. Bulwark takes his kids to school, and before he goes on patrol, Beckett makes Bulwark lunch and gives it to him. Bulwark stops some crimes, but runs into the floating squid, who says it comes in peace, and that Edmond has been chosen to protect the eggs of the new generation. It says he has defeated one of the 8 tentacles and now takes on its the responsibility of protecting the future generation, while it will be Bulwark's ward in the sea. Bulwark agrees to this.   It cuts to the Traveler, who sometimes feels as if floating while everything turns dark. It seems as if it powers down on camera. In its spare time, however, it creates upgrades the Nebula and creates Personnel and gathers resources at the Sinraxxian Trading Hub. The Traveller seems to be in competition with a man in a blue police box. It asks Liv to do diagnostics on its body, while it moves to another body. In the meanwhile, Daybreak visits Dove and brings her food and medicine, and they talk. He reminds her that they fought in the past and it upsets her. She says she doesn't remember what happened, and he says they thought fought each other because Daybreak was at a speech, watching a "senator or whatever", before he noticed a bullet flying towards him. He went to intercept it and pinpoint the shooter and found Dove. He chased her into a construction site, they fought, and in the beginning, he was trying to talk to her. At the end of the fight, the building crumbled, Daybreak saving Dove and getting buried, giving her time to get away. She gets upset that she can't remember.   They talk for like 87 years and exchange numbers. Liv alerts the group that there's a situation going down at the factories. Before then, though, Reason heads to the Nebula to set up her workshops, while the Traveler waits for the diagnostics. The Traveler talks with Reason about curing cancer before getting its body back, and they both respond the factory lot. The Traveler gets there first and relays the information to the group, before the session ends.

(Session 4)
July 9th, 2022

The session opens with narration about how someone sits in a cell on a mattress, hearing only screaming. "Have you learned?" A disembodied distorted voice asks. Something overtakes you, as you stand your knees buckle. Fear, adrenaline. From the darkness, staring before you are blue eyes, lighting the edges of two horns so slightly. You beg and plead, that you have learned. The light only stares back in silence, before it all goes black. The Traveler gets food for Penny, but she gets sick, so it takes her home and then returns to the GDD compound to research Bulwark. It finds Edmond Darlow's file and it mentions his time in the middle east and became and a staff Seargent. He formerly worked at the VA and is 39 years old. The Traveler teleports back to The Nebula to look up Daybreak but finds nothing. Meanwhile, Daybreak takes Bulwark to his house. Edmond's husband, Beckett, has cooked chicken and rice for them and the children, Joseph and Sadie Darlow. He talks to his family and talks about the superhero team. Reason's public persona is discussed. Haven Incorporated is a security company that protects non powered people. The Traveler is also discussed, and the kids theorize that it was a statue at day and a hero at night.   Beckett questions Edmond on why he's back in action after being told he'd be kept out of conflict. Joseph picked the Ultraforce in the team's name picking. The POV cuts to Daybreak and Reason, where they inspect the shipping dock. Daybreak briefs Reason on what happened at the pawn shop and apologizes and says he'll work on having better communication skills. They land on a nearby roof and survey the area. They can see groups of men moving various mundane items or machinery pieces. Reason feels a haze over the dock area, a purplish foggy hue covering the entirety of it. Daybreak notices about 50 people present, and Reason realizes the magic aura is a concealment spell to trick the eyes into believing something else. Edmond answers more questions about the team to his children. Daybreak gets harassed outside of Bulwark's home by children, labelled Moonrepair. He proves his status as Daybreak and he and Bulwark leave. They all meet on top of the Milky Way, near the docks. The Traveler, Daybreak, and Bulwark have a discussion about the disaster prior. Bulwark sets up a platform for them to ride on and is horribly unstealthy. Everyone discusses their plan of action.   Meanwhile, Bulwark gets his info in. Jamie Baker owns the docks, and owns a shop in Augusta, Maine. It seems like a shipping company and construction company that deals in repairs. No major incidents, seems legit. Reason, able to see through illusions, can see a gold-based pyramid erected next to a crane. They see a source of heat coming from its tip. They drop down to the pyramid and pass the illusion veil. They notice greenery covering the golden pyramid, and on top the Minotaur is standing over a corpse on an altar, holding a staff, that contains a crystal that has Snapshot floating in front of it. The Minotaur yells "Rise my Frankenstein" and his red energy expands as lightning shoots from the sky into the tip. Frankenstein awakes and says, "I'm back!" and talks with Minotaur. Bulwark grabs Snapshot and the group chats with the villains, Frankenstein asks if Queen Victoria is still in power. Combat starts.   The Minotaur and Frankenstein leave at a point. Sir Magic shows up to help, and invites them to an event, a contest of sorts., in two weeks, on the 23rd. A grey skinned woman with black hair and black patches over her eyes appears from a helicopter arrival with people, Wildfire. She was considered a b-lister 5 years ago. She stopped doing hero work and was known for her explosive tendencies. She says she is their supervisor and tells them to check an email from Naomi Gray. Everyone splits up and goes home. The Traveler returns to the Nebula and asks Liv who created her. Jessica Moore. Liv's primary directive is to sustain and help on the station. Secondary is to assist the Anomalies in any way possible. The Traveler begins to research The Minotaur and asks Liv to help it. She tells Bulwark the Nebula was built in 2003, launched in 2005 and was not used until it was handed over to a superhero team, and then handed to the Anomalies. Bulwark asks Liv how sentient she is. Liv answers that she does not have a consciousness, but she has a personality that was programmed into her. She says she is not. Bulwark and the Traveler have a discussion that does not turn out well. Reason recalls symbols engraved in the pillars of the pyramid; a sun, a mountain, the sea. She also noticed that when Frankenstein moved, the greenery turned grey and withered and died. Daybreak's dad is a bad dude and alive still, apparently is put away.   "What a night, what an evening. Nine ships were able to get away, and the other two, the only thing that was lost was some civilians." "Well well well, good thing they missed me." A voice calls from the ocean.

(Session 3)
July 9th, 2022

The Intern's name is TONY CLARK. Randolph (Polaroid) is a photographer not a journalist. Polaroid's apartment building is on the corner of Madison and Filmont. Inside Randolph's mailbox are letters, various hospital bills and get-well cards, rent. Granny Mcleroy letters speaks of a little girl, her granddaughter Connie, who is having a hard time with cancer. The other letters are other written support from other family members. His apartment number is E3. The Traveler finds an office space with cameras and writing utensils. Down a hall it finds a living room. The Traveler finds a bedroom with a picture of Randolph and a little girl. The next room is a little girl's room, a little girl who seems to love superheroes. The Traveler investigates the apartment after confirming it is empty. It finds a hidden compartment with a locked box inside, inside the office. Also inside the office is half burnt paper within the trashcan.   From the papers, it can make out Randolph's anger and tipping point. It notes that Randolph was a regular guy who liked taking pictures of beautiful things. Inside the child's room, there is a hidden diary with different superheroes on the front, written and signed by Connie Mclorey, up to 3 days before, where she is moved to the hospital. There is a knock on the door. The Traveler is met with cops, who initiate combat and attack the Traveler when it refuses to cooperate. They do kung fu and damage the Traveler before it teleports away, and they are clearly not normal cops. While Penny is at Pandora's box, a man enters. He wears a mask with two horns and is wearing a black and blue suit with a black and blue coat. He speaks "are you prepared for tonight?" and she nods. The man's name is Oni. As Penny walks out after buying an ancient stone tablet, she notices a van pulling out that was parked when she entered. A black van with blue text that says "Kane's Construction". She also hears the Traveler talking about its findings and encounter with police.   Aiden calls Sam from the White Hole Network. Connie is Randolph's niece and NOT his daughter. Bulwark also sees a Kane's Construction van. It has a "rate my driving" with a phone number and Bulwark writes the phone number and license plate. The Oni is a part of a group called the Mythos. "True Power lies in the sea" is their motto and their symbol is a Kraken. There is a disagreement where Bulwark insists that they return the stolen items. The Mythos collects magic items, and has another member named The Father. Daybreak looks into the box with x-ray vision, and sees three boxes of film, and it is labelled "Frankie Special", a brand. Reason finds out that the "Frankie Special" film is a rumored piece of film that accompanies a magic camera called "The Snapshot" built by the legendary inventor and magician Frankie back in 1937. She also states that the Oni bought the Snapshot from the Galaxy View. The Traveler breaks the law repeatedly and enters Connie's hospital room. The Traveler asks the Anomalies about Cancer. "Humans. Such flawed machines." Everyone ends up at Pandora's box where Bulwark kidnaps an old lady. Cops arrive at the house, grey and red dressed man. The Minotaur. The Ninja Cops attack as well. The minotaur flees and the cops begin to kill themselves with cyanide pills. 3 survive and are restrained. The other five died.   Reason reads one of the Cops minds and sees a memory of him eavesdropping. She hears the Oni and the Minotaur talking to each other saying they got a call from "him", that they can't have people asking about the camera. She also asks him a question "Why do you work for them?" He answers that he believes in the cause of Mythos. She asks what the cause is. He answers, "It is to raise the primordial sea." He also says they store their magic items in a shipping dock called "Kane's Construction" with an address. He says the Primordial Sea is the dark god that will eat all and return us to our natural state. They agree to take a thirty-minute break and reconvene at the shipping docks.

(Session 2)
July 9th 2022

The session starts on the Traveler's turn. It teleports itself and Dove into the hall where Bulwark and Daybreak are battling Megaman, inspecting the situation, before teleporting itself and Dove into the prisoner room with Polaroid. Polaroid is sitting there with a Polaroid of the Anti-Hero Weather Vain. Before he can do anything, the Traveler knocks him out and takes the Polaroid. Dove petrifies the KO'd villain's body. Meanwhile, outside the room, Megaman and the two heroes continue fighting. Reason fixes the power, and it returns, along with Liv's visible form and the defense systems. The station's weapons begin attacking Megaman, who punches Bulwark through a wall and out of the station. Bulwark attacks back, doing the same to Megaman, before tagging out with Daybreak who punches Megaman far down. The Traveler leaves Dove guarding Polaroid, and goes to help fight Megaman. Megaman avoids the Traveler's attack, and The Traveler and Daybreak resist an attack from Megaman. Megaman flies up and gets ready to attack again, but Bulwark flies over and finishes Megaman off.   Liv reveals at this point that the Director is on the station, and the group finds the Director and several agents tied up in the living quarters. Penny finds this very funny. Antics ensue before conversation continues and the group ends up at the GDD headquarters, where they get briefed on the original mission they were supposed to talk about. The GDD wants the group to look for Polaroid's Polaroid camera. They reveal that Polaroid's real name is Randolph Gracefield, and he used to be a reporter at the White Hole Network before getting fired for hateful speech against superheroes. They show pictures of his apartment, as well as him at various points. A picture taken a month prior, as well as another two weeks prior, show him with his standard camera. However, a picture taken a week prior show him with a new polaroid camera. It is revealed that around that time he attacked the GDD headquarters. Five locations are given out, including the White Hole Network building, his apartment, and three antique shops, to look for clues on Polaroid and his camera.   Meanwhile Polaroid is escorted away, and the group is also filled in on his article that got him fired, where he implies that he's going to do something about heroes, specifically naming Daybreak and Megaman at various points. The group splits up, with the Traveler checking out his apartment, Daybreak going to the White Hole Network building, and the others checking out the antique shops. They are also equipped with comm links by Reason, with a trip to Haven necessary to modify the Traveler for its own comm link.

(Session 1)
July 9th 2022

The session starts with each member of the team being teleported into a large room with a table and 5 seats. The room has a massive window that overlooks Earth, and it becomes apparent that they are in space, on a space station. They introduce themselves to each other, and that is when Liv, a blue holographic AI shows herself to them. She explains that they will be on a team together (The Anomalies), and they have been left this hidden space station as a gift, a home base for them to meet at. She uploads a map of the base to the Traveler, and begins explaining their objective, which revolves around Polaroid, a supervillain, and his camera. She does not get to finish explaining, as the power goes out. The Traveler and Bulwark teleport into the generator room, which is filled with photo negative henchmen and a photo negative Blindside, all of them tearing the room up. Combat begins, and the Traveler detours to tell everyone that there are enemies very quickly.   The henchmen are quickly dispatched, but Blindside leaves with a power coil, and encounters the rest of the team on the main bridge. She spawns two more photo negative heroes, Starborn and Megaman, and proceeds to phase through a barrier Bulwark put up to trap them in. She enters the prison, and the Traveler teleports her back out, into space, where it defeats her, but not before she breaks a hole in the glass dome surrounding the station. Though Starborn knocks out Daybreak, Daybreak heals and oneshots Starborn with a blast of heat vision.   Megaman starts man handling the team while the Traveler attempts to fix the generator so the power can come back online. Reason switches places with the Traveler, as she's more capable, and the Traveler teleports itself and Dove into the prisoner's cell to secure it and make sure Megaman doesn't break through while Bulwark and Daybreak fight Megaman. The session ends there.

(Session 0.5)
July 8th 2022, July 9th 2022

The Traveler arrives at the Museum it woke up in and enters it. It goes through the museum and notices a High School tour being guided through, with one redhead (Rachel Steel) being taunted and mocked by three other girls, one of which is a brolic blonde with blue eyes and freckles, in overalls. There is brief mention of a display of a fight between three heroes against an ogre-like creature three years before, in the outskirts of the city. They continue through the museum exhibit, until Traveler comes across its display, where it was formally located. It was discovered in 1937, in Alaska, and was brought into the Museum 20 years prior. It was described as a statue of unknown metal, and it is noted that the cameras short circuited when the Traveler woke up, only returning after it was gone.   As it turns away from the display, the four children are behind it, and they ask questions about the Traveler. They point out its serial number and ask if that makes it property. The Traveler points out that the children also have a number, the age in which they die. This upsets the child, and they continue off, with the Traveler also heading that direction. The Traveler notices the four children departing from the tour guide and heading onto the roof, so the Traveler follows to make sure everything is fine. It implores the children to go back inside where it is safe, and notices the redhead, Rachel Steel, start to display powers, of purple electricity.   Rachel displays signs of aggression, so the Traveler teleports her a safe distance from everyone else and focuses her aggression on itself. It evades all of her attacks via teleporting and comforts her with words. When the Traveler calms her down, they walk about the city and explore the various stores and locations- even finding a laundromat with a speakeasy and comedy club hidden beneath it. Before Rachel leaves, she warns the Traveler that she won't let people get away with hurting her, and she still wants revenge. The Traveler passes along the wisdom of 'with great power comes great responsibility' and moves along. The day after, it is contacted by Null telepathically. Null informs The Traveler that the Global Defense Department wish to contact it and implants the knowledge of their office location into its mind. The Traveler thanks Null but insists they do not alter its data any further. Null seems confused at the mention of data, and stops responding, but the Traveler continues to the office, where it meets Director Hall. Director Hall leads the Traveler into a white room and uses a badge to alter the colors in it. Doors open and close out the walls, and Hall mentions other teammates will arrive to be a part of the team the Traveler has agreed to join.   Potential Threads:
  • Rachel Steel seems to have a positive relationship with the Traveler, though she seems very set in her ways of violent revenge. She is 15 years old and goes to high school. She displayed powers of purple electricity and telekinesis.
  • The cameras short circuited when The Traveler woke up. It could be simply the surge of power from it turning online, but it could be something else.
  • Three Heroes vs an Ogre three years ago on the edge of the city.
  • Null and The Traveler have officially met, and there is potential confusion between Null's ability to manipulate the data in the Traveler's head. They seem very alike aside from this, and there may be potential for a friendship of some kind.
  • The strange room, the pulses, blue pulse, purple pulse, and multiple doors. Could be interesting to ask about.
