Lady Lyanna Aline (Li-ah-na ah-line)
Lady Lyanna Aline
Lady Lyanna Aline is a part-dragon from Lysonos, Jou'lunn. Lyanna grew up believing that she was fully human and born to the High Lord and Lady of Lysonos. Her mother and true father, a half-dragon and Captain of her guard, traveled to Drakoria to have her magic sealed away when she was very young. Lyanna still has no idea she is not fully human, nor that her guard, which appears human now due to a glamour, is actually made up of several different species, all trained to protect her at the behest of her true father.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Lyanna is extensively trained as a warrior, she is strong and capable, with lean muscle. She is faster than a human, using agility rather than raw strength to best her opponents.
Facial Features
Lyanna looks mostly like her mother, with high cheekbones, strong eyebrows, long lashes, full lips and skin with a golden undertone. Prominent eyebrows make her look severe if she wants to, though is mostly unassuming due to her beauty and quiet nature. Her eyes are bright amber - an unusual color for a human and glows slightly in low lights.
Identifying Characteristics
Several scars adorn her body due to combat, mostly on her hands and arms. There is one prominent scar on her abdomen from close combat with marauders who attacked Lysonos shortly after her family perished at sea.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Lyanna grew up preparing to be married to a neighboring Lord or Duke. She was the oldest, but was destined to never inherit, as her younger brother would become the Lord as soon as her father died. Lyanna was a rebellious child and preferred learning combat to embroidering pillows or curtsying. As a result, she'd not been pursued by any suitors.
Her father mostly ignored her, and her mother was too ill to try to bother with her. She was raised by elven governesses and her personal guard - Malachi, a large human who had lived with her family her entire life.
Her family lived a life of opulence in Lysonos in a large castle carved into the rock of the mountains surrounding the city. Their main holdings being jewels and rights of the gemstone and resource mines around the city. In addition, they owned several other properties around Jou'lunn - including a town home in he capital, Halebrink, and a country estate an hour outside the city, as well as several vessels for trade and commerce. In addition, her father created a team of fighters who still compete in the Arena - a large gambling ring that existed solely to amuse the people of Jou'lunn and fueled the slave trade for the entire region. The strongest survived, winning their owners huge purses and notoriety, and the weakest perished
When her mother, father and brother were all lost at sea in a storm off the coast, Lyanna found herself becoming a High Lord of Lysonos at 19 years old. The condition was that whoever she married would become the High Lord, and she would become just another wife with no power or responsibilities
So, for five years, Lyanna refused to wed, stating that she found no one suitable to take over the rule of her mountain city and the prosperous mines that go with it. As such, she has ruled herself with her personal guard and large army that has kept any attempt at usurping at bay.
Education
Lyanna is trained most extensively in combat. She is well versed in most weapons, though her favorites are daggers and short swords. She prefers close combat to ranged weapons.
In addition to combat, she does know how to behave like a proper lady - dancing, playing an instrument, singing, weaving, and drawing. She is also well versed in literature, history and diplomacy (though is not good at the latter).
Mental Trauma
Family - Although unaddressed, the death of her entire family weighs heavily on her, even though she was largely neglected as a child by both her parents and hated by her younger brother.
True Self - Her entire life, she has believed she is human. The shock of finding out she is not human will be extremely detrimental to her psyche and worldview. In addition, her guard has hidden their true selves from her, further perpetuating that her whole life is a lie.
Morality & Philosophy
Despite where she was raised, Lyanna does not agree with the way that slaves are treated or that humans are inherently superior to other species. Though she still both owns and employs other species, they are treated more fairly than they would be in other cities and families.
Social
Family Ties
Lyanna has an aunt with no children that lives somewhere in Jou'lunn, but was estranged from her family. There is no male family member in waiting to claim the Lordship of Lysonos.
Social Aptitude
In Jou'lunn, Lyanna is considered odd and unlikeable. She is confident in her rule of Lysonos and her abilities, but she often speaks truth where others would lie to be more palatable.
Before her family's death, she was more brash, outspoken and harsh, but has now become more introverted and analytical in order to be more likeable to society at large and the citizens of her city. Though, her city's inhabitants are people of the mines - pragmatic, harsh and less cultured than the rest of the country, despite their wealth driven by the richness of the gemstones and resources found in the mountains. Because of their earthiness, they are more accepting of Lyanna's slightly less cultured manners and less polished way of socializing.
Hobbies & Pets
Combat is Lyanna's main hobby, though she also enjoys reading as a pastime. The only craft she tolerates is weaving, because it serves a purpose and allows her to practice the same precision she needs while fighting.
Speech
Lyanna's voice is rich alto, with a cultured tone and the accent of those native to Lysonos and the surrounding areas. With friends, she speaks openly and can be very self-revealing. With those she does not trust, she speaks as little as possible, as she is a notoriously terrible liar.
Wealth & Financial state
As the High Lord of Lysonos, she has many holdings in both Lysonos and around Jou'lunn.
