Working With Endral - Krommus Henhekaln
...
Since long before the forming of the Enclave, Endral - or the Forgotten Crystal as it is commonly known - has been used by arcanists, priests and healers alike. Although items made from the Forgotten Crystal may not be as versatile as traditional enchanted objects, they do offer a relatively cheap way to create smaller magical trinkets.
The major drawback of enchanting with Endral is, of course, the fact that the enchanted crystal requires an external source of energy. Paired with the fact that this energy can not derive from any spell, for risk of contaminating the spell stored within the crystal, enchanted Endral has limited use.
Most commonly, fire is used as an energy source for the crystal. Fuse the crystal with a spell of silence and toss it to a fire, for instance, and none who venture near the flames will be able to make a sound - that is until the fire itself dies to embers.
The crystal can, if crafted in to panes of suitable surface area, absorb energy from sunlight and then expel that energy throughout the night - as is often seen in Lathanderite Temples, and this is probably one of the most functional uses of the material.
