Peinrir The Keeper by Sashan Bahnar
Faith in Lathander, the God of Dawn, understandably grew when the Great Blink finally came to an end. It was hard not to see the deity's handiwork as the Sun broke through the darkness and the Old World finally revealed itself to us for the first time in seventy years. Those forced from their homeland wanted to believe that they could finally reclaim what they had lost, but many still feared the lands that had once betrayed them.
It took years for that fear to wane, but when the call finally came the people were ready. It was time to drive the darkness from our lost homes.
I first met Peinrir, famed paladin of Lathander, in rejuva where he fought alone, driven by dedication and protected by faith, to cleanse the barren lands of the foul underdark beings that still lurked on the forgotten shard of South Gespara. He did not fight for glory or fame. He did not fight for himself, nor his God. He fought for us, each of us who had our homes taken from us. Those who grew up in foreign lands as refugees. Banished from the Old World and a burden upon the Enclave. He taught us that we no longer needed to cower in the North. It was time to move back to the Old World.
Peinrir became known as The Keeper. Many of us had struggled South, attempting to rebuild our lost lives. But we all fought alone, an isolated selfish war of opportunists and thieves plundering the lands we once called home. We didn't know it at the time, but we needed to unite. So when the Call of The Keeper came, we were ready to respond. 'Lathander cares not who you were,' The Keeper told us, 'Only who you will be in the face of Shadow. The Dark has been banished by the radiant light, but its Blight remains. Join me and we shall re-claim our home.' And so, the millions of displaced souls united in a single purpose. They became The Keeprers of the Sun and they marched South in to the Shadow of the Old World.
Sashan Bahnar is a Gesparan scholar, born in South Gespara, in 1955 EC. His parents lived in Flotil, a small village on the Southern tip of Gespara (now Rejuva) which was destroyed in the Blink. They managed to escape North before the Shear separated the land. Sashan now lives in Blackbarrel, with the local Keeper outpost, where he works to defend the town and restore Rejuva to tranquil home his parents once knew.
