As preparations for the play were made, Shokizu took a smoke break outside.
She was approached by an odd fey person who claimed that the crew were unaware of the full picture of what was happening. They said that they could learn from the crew, and that the crew could learn from them. They asked that Shokizu obtain a key (a bronze key with a sapphire gem) from Duke Thalyros of Kunnom, which would help both parties learn more.
They also asked that the crew come meet with them that night, after the decree has been made. Before Shokizu could clarify much, they darted away - leaving Shokizu with a note:
Shokizu returned to the green room and shared what she had learned with the rest of the crew.
Judge convinced the Duke to part in the play. The crew planned to use the play as a distraction to be able to steal the key.
The crew were natural actors. The plan mostly worked, and Shokizu was able to steal a small pouch and a key from the Duke while on stage.
At the finale of the show, an Emissary in the audience released four stone-like assassins from the floating platform it rested upon. The two Articulates that accompanied the Emissary revealed themselves to be the same kind of strange, mouthless elf that had attacked the Kren'Sar while sailing the thoroughfare.
The crew defeated their assailants and the crowd went wild.
Elenvyr Moss-Crown (the emissary) was arrested.
