23 - Igniting Spark

General Summary

The crew followed Mex through the empty streets of the Gold Steppe. ----------------------------------------------------------------------   In the Mystic Emporium, Erchyll found a crystal sphere, a pair of ornate, lightweight pauldrons, and a talking skull. The skull, ineffectually, tried to bite Erchyll.   The skull recited the following:   'They built it deep, down in the dark, The catalyst, igniting spark, House Velshar locked the secret there, And fed it bone, and blood, and prayer.   The family ruled with silent hands, And the dead did step, to each command, But time forgets, and memory fades, And none remain to point the way.   A name once spoken, to halt the tide, Now holds no power; for all have died, And though the lords have turned to dust, The dead still march - because they must.'   ----------------------------------------------------------------------   Shokizu found the Cloud Storage & a Greater Cloak of Visibility   ----------------------------------------------------------------------   CLOUD STORAGE   When standing outside and holding this object in one hand, you may hold another object in your other hand to transfer that object to the cloud (which will from above you). If you hand is empty, and you think of an object in the cloud, the object will be transferred from the cloud in to your empty hand.   This only works with in-animate objects that you can hold with one hand. You must be outside in an area where clouds can form for this object to work.   ----------------------------------------------------------------------   GREATER CLOAK OF VISIBILITY   Requires attunement.   While wearing this cloak, if the lighting you are exposed to dramatically increases (like suddenly being lit by a torch in darkness, or walking from a dimly lit room in to strong sunlight) the cloak will shine with dazzling light for 6 seconds or until the end of your next turn. Any attacks against you that require sight have disadvantage for the duration.   ----------------------------------------------------------------------   Judgement found a faceless corpse, which had not been dead for very long but still re-animated. Curious, Judge brought the corpse along.   ----------------------------------------------------------------------   Mitch entered a book store and found books regarding Old-Elven and Tezcan.   Mitch opened the safe from the Mystic Emporium. Inside were three rings, some gold, and a sack.   ----------------------------------------------------------------------   RUBY RING OF WISDOM   An engraved silver ring, with a large red ruby.   Requires attunement.   Increases Wisdom Saving Throws by +2 when worn.   ----------------------------------------------------------------------   BRITTLE GLASS RING   A clear glass ring.   Requires attunement.   If your hitpoints are reduced to 0 while wearing this ring, your HP is increased to 1 at the end of the current turn.   The ring will then shatter and lose all magical properties.   ----------------------------------------------------------------------   ONIX BAND   A featureless, smooth band of black stone.   Does not require attunement.   While worn, you become resistant to all non-magical damage. You also cannot make any verbal sound while wearing the ring.   ----------------------------------------------------------------------   Moving on, the crew found a large sigil of House Velshar, made from flesh and bone. It was faintly magical.   ----------------------------------------------------------------------   The crew were attacked by 'Skin-rays'. It was an ordeal.   ----------------------------------------------------------------------   The crew re-united with Khrumem, Three-Song and Giran. Three-Song and Khrumem have apparently re-kindled their relationship, and Giran has started to emulate Erchyll's style.   Everyone managed to make it back to the upper Steppes before nightfall.   Mitch tested the arcane pyramid device that was in the hold of the Kren'Sar, and spoke with Sindril via portal. They confirmed the plan - to hide this device in Queen Avrethi's room tonight, without her knowledge.   Judge had the corpse he was carrying delivered to Erchyll's lab, where Erchyll, Roody and Giran were hanging out drinking beer. Erchyll and Giran sent their familiars to warn Orvivel / Lady Avrethi of the assassination plot.
