19 - Serpent Wakes

General Summary

20th, The Melting, 2083EC   The crew of The Kren'Sar continued to fight. Judge turned many of the undead and Dragon Slayer Pitho Bil destroyed Vigrimmon with a final cannon shot.   Erchyll joined in with the ritual of domination.   The ritual was completed and a gargantuan serpent uncoiled from within the Wandering Star. Its shriek pierced the mind of all that could hear it. Panic erupted in the streets of Lirimidium.   Lady Avrethi forced her will upon the serpent, and it begain to circle in the air, biting it's own tail. A portal formed at the centre of the Serpent and Avrethi told Mitch to fly the Kren'Sar through it.
Around this time, Erchyll found that they could not move. With no intention of their own, Erchyll stabbed Lady Avrethi with an infernal dagger, allowing Orvivel to possess her.   With the Kren'Sar very badly damaged, Mitch commanded the Kren'Sar through the portal. The fate of The Drake is unknown, including Lord Pedrin Khurst Akinlor, Sindril Helviarn, Khrumem Dos and Giran who were on board at the time.   ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   The crew found themselves in a strange, pale void. The Kren'Sar drifted aimlessly forward. Time was difficult to keep track of here, and Shokizu saw visions of her father in the past out in the void when she focused. Some repairs were made to the Kren'Sar.   Eventually, the Kren'Sar exited this strange place. The crew found themselves back in the sky above Lirimidium.   -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   When the Kren'Sar vanishes through the portal of the great serpent, the fighting does not cease.   The forces of Akinlor retreat - they leave the destruction of Lirimidium to the Great Serpent itself. It winds through the sky above the city, it's shadow playing across Velshar Plaza. The crowds gathered there try to flee, their rapture now broken.   The forces of Lirimidium attempt to engage the creature. Cannons flare in the sky to little effect. One ship strays too close to the serpent - it is swallowed hole.   The Great Serpent lets out a piercing shriek. And in that instant, one hundred bodies in the crowds below drop to the floor, lifeless. The panic intensifies. The resolve of the city is soon broken. Those left alive either flee or hide. Lirimidium surrenders - and the Serpent does not care.   Another shriek and something fundamental deep within the city snaps. The dead who roam the streets of Lirimidium, passive and servile, look upon their mortal masters with renewed interest. A skeletal messenger drags a man from his home and impales him in the street. A city warden is eaten by the animated dead that she used to command. Shambling corpses shuffle through the streets, seeking living flesh. The city consumes itself from the inside.   By the time reinforcements arrive from Akinlor, there is little of the city left to conquer. There is no military defence from Lirimidium. Plaza Velshar and the Sky Steppe are secured. The rest of the city is still too dangerous and chaotic for the Akinlorian soldiers to brave, undead hordes still stalk the lower steppes. The great Serpent coils above the city, passive now. Waiting.   The Custodian is taken prisoner, along with any other prominent figures still alive. Lirimidium belongs to Akinlor now. And the city awaits its new ruler.   ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------   4th, Flower, 2083EC   The Kren'Sar reappears in the sky above Lirimidium. Two weeks have passed. The city is in ruin and under Akinlorian occupation.
