Alara
Alara is a barren world orbiting its sun Alara Sol, a main sequence class A star, roughly 4,000 square miles larger than Earth's Sun. Alara is a lifeless world, but its use as a "generator world", the oldest in human history, means it is incredibly valuable. Generator worlds are worlds orbiting close to their stars with nothing to block them. All along the surface there are solar panels, pulling energy and storing them in large batteries, these batteries are then shipped off world to power Human settlements across The Galaxy. Generator worlds usually do not have large populations due to the havoc the extreme heat unleashes on habitats, however Alara is tidally locked with its star, meaning it has no days. And so the planet has developed in a very unique way. On its eternal day side, its is covered in solar panels, on its night side warehouses and storage units carry spare parts for its energy industry, while its sunrise/sunset edges are lined with habitats in the much more manageable 120 degree heat. Anyone leaving their habitats needs enviro-suits, to survive not only the vacuum, but the temperature, and almost all of Alara's 2 billion population works on the panels in 4 hour shifts four times a week.
