Leveling Benefits

As has been noted elsewhere, there is a distinction between Class Level and Character Level. Class Level pertains to a character's level in a particular Class. Character Level pertains to a character's total experience. Many players choose to only level in one class, in which case Class Level and Character Level would be the same.    In addition to attack bonuses and defense bonuses, all characters gain other benefits from advancing in level. These benefits include
  • XP: For the purposes of this game a hybrid system shall be used for experience points. XP point will be tracked quantitatively by the GM while significant milestones shall contribute qualitatively. Both will be taken into consideration when the GM decides that the party has earned an increase in level.
  • Feats: Beyond first level, new Feats are gained at levels 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18.
  • Ability Increases: Ability scores are increased at levels 4, 8, 12, 16, and 20. In eash of these cases the player chooses two ability socres to improve, however, both scores cannot be allocated to the same ability. These choices are permanent.
Ability Score increases have retroactive consequences. For example, if you increase your Intelligence score from 13 to 14, you immediately gain an additional Trained Skill chosen from your class Skills and an additional language.   Similarly, if a Jedi who with two instances of the Force Training feat increased their Wisdom from 13 to 14, they would gain two Force Powers (for a total of six).   ======================================================================================================   Don't forget that after leveling sufficiently, a character deals extra damage on melee and ranged attacks equal to one-half (1/2 or x0.5) their Character Level, rounded down. A 1st level character, therefore, has a damage bonus of +0.   For example a 4th-level Soldier armed with a Blaster Pistol deals 3d6+2 points of damage with the weapon. A 12th-level Soldier armed with the exact same weapon deals 3d6+6 points of damage.   For Multiclass characters, Ability increases are gained according to overall Character Level, not Class Level. Thus a 3rd-level Noble/1st-level Soldier is a 4th-level character overall and eligible for their first two Ability Score boosts.
