The Mysterious Fleet

A new threat to the Outer Rim, this Mysterious Fleet has unknown origins and unknown technology that has allowed it to have incredible success disabling ships.  The Design of the ships seem to be unknown and yet a large portion of the fleet is made up of stolen ships from all over the Galaxy.
The ships seem to jump out of light speed and ambush ships along the major Hyperspace Lanes. They are ruthless and efficient. They seem to rely on ambush methods and take the ships they disable with them as a prize.  Upon exiting light speed the ships unload a burst from some sort of Ion cannon that is capable of taking down even capital ships in a few blasts. Once the ship is disabled they begin to board and capture the vessel taking the crew and ship presumably back to their base of operations. The only reports of the fleet are those given by other ship in a caravan that have fled once the fleet has appeared.  There seems to be no discrimination thus far in the ships that are attacked and captured.
Their methods have been effective and have disrupted the stability of the Outer Rim worlds. The Empire is preparing to deal with this new threat and it is rumored they have even lost a Star Destroyer to this new fleet. As the Empire's presence in the Outer Rim is stretched thin it is taking time to organize a coordinated assault. 
All that is known about the fleet is that it is most present in the Spadja system and this may likely be where it's base of operations is located.  So far the identity of the aliens or humans controlling this fleet is unknown and nobody has yet to escape a boarded ship. Until now.
