The Galactic Empire

The Galactic Empire rose from the ashes of the ineffective Republic in the wake of the Clone Wars. Clothed in absolute power, Emperor Palpatine rules a grateful populace in the Deep Core, Core Worlds, and Colonies, with strong control over the Inner Rim. However, in the Mid Rim and Outer Rim, his authority is much weaker and often relies on the barrel of a blaster or the looming presence of orbiting Star Destroyers.
Now the Empire is the primary force of power in the galaxy and continues to grow as it subjugates or annexes new worlds. The Empire's reach and power has no rival allowing it to become a powerful propaganda machine. Talk of the Jedi and the force has become outlawed under the reign of the empire and those who speak publicly of it soon disappear. Not much is known about the Empire's top command by the common citizens of the galaxy but all hear the rumors of Darth Vader, said to be being of immense power that no one dare oppose.
With no power able to content with the Empire it's reach has grown along with it's militaristic and governing abilities. The Empire now continues to sweep across the galaxy unopposed altering the way of life on every world it touches. Many planets are allowed to keep their rule but must supply the Empire the resources they require. Under Imperial rule many have found a stability and order as the Empire ends many armed conflicts and disputes. Some look at the Empire as a new order that can bring stability to a turbulent universe while others see it as a force crushing the freedoms of the galaxy's denizens. Many of the planets under the umbrella of the empire now rely on the security and control it provides making these worlds completely dependent on the Empire.
Whatever the Galaxy's feelings toward the Empire one thing is certain, it's methods are brutal and unwavering. The Empire is an organization that will not let simple morals get in the way of it's goals.
