You have discovered the Rav was the Jedi you witnessed in the caves visions as well as the Jedi who wrote the journal entries on your datapad.
During his time in the Jedi order he was forced to fight many battles and watch his colluges fall. As the war continued Rav felt he had become used by Jedi, nothing more than an instrument to slaughter rather than a guardian who would uphold the tennets of the Jedi.
After a fierce battle where Rav lost those closest to him he was sent to Dawn Temple to recover and rid his mind of the doubt and anger that was growing.
While at the Dawn Temple the Jedi's teaching and approach only further fueled his disappointment and anger with the Jedi, leading him to seduce fellow recovering Jedi to leave on their own accord. When they were told prevented from leaving, Rav infuriated lead a rebellion.
This rebellion failed and he was imprisoned in a stasis cell with his followers sharing the same fate. They were kept deep in the Dawn Temple with the hope that one day they could be redeemed.
As the years past and the Jedi were wiped out, Rav and his followers have been left in an eternal prison day after day unable to experience freedom.
During this time Rav was able to channel the dark side of the force and regain consciousness enough to contact any who would help. Malefax was an easy tool, easily convinced and easily seduced. Rav lead him here to the Dawn temple to help him carry out his plan of escape.
Rav giving into the dark side used a sith holocron in Malefax's possession to communicate with him and as the holocron got closer Rav's power through it grew eventually causing the dark energy and anger within him to spread through it and touch everyone in the valley driving them mad.

Trapped in stasis within the Dawn Temple, Rav is intent on wiping out the memory of the Jedi he despises.

Rav Naaran is a human male in his middle years. He is tall and trim, clean shaven, every inch the soldier in his black armor. Even before he engaged in true battles in the outbreak of the Clone Wars, Naaran was a master of the lightsaber and a relentless foe to pirates, criminals, and anyone else who preyed on the citizens of the Republic.
His skills in battle were honed by constant fighting, and his stubborn streak was tempered by the adoption of tactical discipline. The Jedi took to his wartime position like few others in the order, and his captivity has done little to dull his expertise. In fact, his time in stasis has kept him young and vigorous beyond his true age.
