Black Sun Profile: It’s nearly impossible to discuss Nar Shaddaa without mentioning Black Sun. The criminal organisation initially came into prominence during the Clone Wars and has spread throughout the galaxy like a disease. It is the largest and most powerful organized crime group in existence, and they are a force to be reckoned with. Locally, they are led by Durga the Hutt, the Vigo who controls the area. While Durga’s focus is on smuggling, his lieutenants are always vying for favor, and are always willing to expand…so long as they don’t run afoul of their boss.
They were previously under the operation of Prince Xizor; however, he was killed (and therefore removed from running the organisation) in 3 ABY. Following this, Xizor's niece, Savan, took control of the organisation.
However, just a matter of weeks ago, she was captured and imprisoned by the fledgling New Republic on Hurd's Moon. Following this, Black Sun has begun to crumble beneath the internecine wars that she had instigated. The Vigos have begun killing each other one by one vying for control of the organisation. Any central authority has since disappeared, and the organization, left leaderless, is fragmenting. This was Savan's plan, but Savan is no longer in any position to take advantage of it...
The knock-on effects to Nar Shadaa (with the violence and actions spilling over) are proving quite profound in the short-term.
