The Terraforming Ritual

The largest and most ambitious magic ritual one could ever hope to complete, there is no overstating the impact that the Terraforming Ritual has had on the system. This allows for the transformation of barren and desolate planets into beautiful and flourishing homes of civilizations. This is accomplished by infusing the world with six types of magic: Fire, to provide heat for the worlds distant from the sun, Water, to provide the most important factor in life, Air, to provide a breathable atmosphere, Nature, to provide flora and fauna to sustain the atmosphere, Gravity, to modify this force on the planet and keep the citizens of it from being crushed to death, and Land, to modify the continents' shape.   The infusion of these elements is done through six space stations, which have openings on their floors to allow the magical energy to reach the planet, placed at very specific positions around the planet: two at the poles, and four at each side of a planet so that they form a sort of "cube." Inside each station is a team of wizards and clerics, eight of which have the weighty responsibility of charging the energy. Once all the stations have been cleared for activation, each crew begins their ritual, which involves each individual chanting one word of an eight-word chant in succession, unleashing their element of magic and giving it to a massive orb in the center of the room, just above the opening, in the process. Once the chant has been recited in full exactly three times, they alert their project supervisor that they are ready. Once all stations are ready, the supervisor gives them all the signal, and they drop their magical energy onto the planet, where it begins changing it on impact.   The beauty of this ritual is its customizability. One can modify the parameters of the spell to have dense jungle worlds, vast desert worlds, frozen tundra worlds, oceanic cave worlds, and many, many more. Admittedly, the process does seem limited to only being able to generate one biome on a world at a time, albeit with some variations. Another limit is the inability to predict what kind of wildlife will appear on the planet. While it is possible to manipulate the environment for certain creatures and populate it with those creatures, new creatures can and do spawn just as often, and the plant life is almost entirely unpredictable.   Despite these drawbacks, the Terraforming Ritual remains the most influential piece of techno-magic in the entire system, and has expanded the reach of civilization exponentially beyond what was once thought possible.

Utility

The Terraforming Ritual has been used only a dozen times or so, but each time has had a massive impact on the system's culture as each race began colonizing entire new worlds, expanding their influence beyond what was once thought possible, and almost completely populating planets in centuries or, in the case of the Elves,s decades.
Access & Availability
Terraforming is only available to governments, due to its massive strain on resources and the sheer number of manpower required to operate it. While private contractors do exist, they are all part of the exact same guild, and even if one were rich enough to afford their services, the planning alone can take months, if not years, to complete.
Complexity
Terraforming involves several moving parts to its operation. In addition to the ritual described above, there is also a large amount of planning involved, and several factors to consider, such as what kind of biome the client wants, how far away from the sun it is, and how much mass it has. Then there is the matter of the enormous space stations, the magic air bubbles that keep the air from escaping through the gaping hole in the floor, getting to the planet, and writing the chant that will provide the exact right outcome.
Discovery
With the rise of space travel having revealed that many planets are, in fact, rather boring at best, and downright hostile at worst, many great scientists and wizards began pondering how one could improve the conditions of other planets. Thus, much research was done into what makes Earth so habitable for life, and generalized it to six important factors, which were later able to be replicated with large amounts of magic.
