The Manes are invisible primordial and elemental forces that occupy this plane and are able to bestow dyona on anyone who worships them. They therefore can have clerics and other classes devoted to them, although they usually have no organizational structure or temple system. Many of the Temples that worship the main pantheon disavow veneration of the Manes as dangerous heresy. It's common for evil creatures to worship the Manes to receive the ability to cast spells, further tarnishing their reputation among civilized settlements. However, there are many good-aligned Manes, such as the Forest God.
Some Dwarven settlements worship the Manes in a guise of a nature spirit or divinity. They understand them as forces of neutral or good intent usually associated with a specific holy place.
It's not clear what the Manes get out of having worshipers. They don't often communicate with mortals, but are said to be found everywhere. The human Day for the Dead festival on Snowspawn 16 is meant to placate them and avoid their wrath.
