Term: Glyphring
A holographical ring or disk of magic displaying many special symbols varying each in color, size, and intensity, each providing a vital link between the physical world and the magical dimension that enables the use of many spells otherwise impossible to invoke. Over half all spells in every spell book invoke the usage of glyphrings, the elemental disks that rotate around one's wrist for magical amplification and invocation assistance. Glyphrings however can also form in other locations as aerial glyphrings, and similar though much larger summon glyphrings. And when a spell invokes a glyphring, special properties may be attached to that spell. Sometimes, a spell may be marked in the book as using a phased glyphring. This only means that the use of a glyphring for that spell is optional.
