Eldora's Crystal Core
The crystal core of Sprawn Valley is the revolutionary method in which cosmic energy from the moon is captured and converted into usable Leray magic and simultaneously sent out to the entire area of the continent in the form of a protective Leray veil, all in real time. Prior to the core, magic had to be converted directly by mages, stored as potential Leray energy in magic crystals, and then released from those portable crystals. The crystal core of Sprawn Valley is the reason Leray magic is both safe and popular today. Without this core, there would be no wide or instant magic source, or a veil to protect people.
Utility
The core is used to deliver the Leray veil of protection to Sprawn Valley, providing all with protection agianst physical injuries or real time damage that would otherwise be inflicted by any form of magic damage. This veil also enables Leray magical usage without any reliance on the non-renewable resource of Leray crystals. This core was pitched and built in Sprawn Valley because the country seems to have the best geographical location for the strongest rays of moonlight to shine for the maximum amount of time each day. But more to the point, it was invented to expand the use of Leray magic for the purpose of conducting Leray battles or using Leray magic without causing harm or death to others.
Access & Availability
The very use of the core is closely guarded by the Leray champion and the tower mages that assist him or her. Without special permissions, tower elites, the General Army, nor the mage council have the permission to enter the vault leading to the crystal core.
Complexity
The crystal core is highly complex and connected to an underground power generation and conversion grid. The generator rooms all run in a circuit of the core at the top of the tower to take captured moonlight energy, partially convert it to usable electrical energy (to perpetually power the reactor), which then runs into a conversion matrix turning moonlight into Leray magic, cutting down the power levels and destruction potential of this magic while ensuring it is safe to use by humans. This Leray magic is then fed back into the other micro-core components of the core at the top of the tower, which all work together to project and send out a large invisible field of energy, the veil, to the entire country of Sprawn Valley. To keep the crystal core hidden while allowing it to function, the spherical sky-view panel that allows moonlight to flow into the room uses one-way active-camouflage glass, which itself uses magic to function. From anywhere outside of the tower, nobody can see the core, nor do they realize the specific technology inside of it.
The core room itself is a series of well-placed pillars, each with high-potential crystal core spheres held in place. These spheres are a form of magic crystals condensed into the highest energy-potential shape and format, created from the crystals mined from Eupharus Island. There are sixteen small pillars in total, laid out in each four corners of the circular room, divided by sections of four. The core however is in the center, with its own larger dedicated pillar and a unique crystalline sphere that stores the lunar energy of the night.
Discovery
Lysander Leray presented the idea of Leray magic before becoming interested in a veil of protection. He did not create the crystal core, but intended to come up with a means to a short-range veil of damage protection agianst the magic. He inspired the creation of micro-veils, which over time eventually led to the blueprints of a massive crystal core; present day Eldora Tower.
