Cran
The Cran are an interesting mutation of creatures born specifically of Leray magic (or so it it said). The Cran are essentially a small-sized type of earth golem, creatures that are living breathing trees capable of invoking Leray magic. They can be found mostly at the site of the Hix Ruins, though few have been spotted on the outskirts of the Skar Mountains and in the Outback.
Basic Information
Anatomy
A pine tree that can grow no larger than 1.2 meters tall with a thick torso and thin limbic body system. Cran have two arms and two legs and walk upright, but no hands or feet to grip. A Cran's head separates from the neck without much difference in width in the shape. The wood of a living Cran is more powerful and versatile than the wood of an ordinary tree, nearly impossible to crack. The eyes of a Cran are very small and purely black, but their eyesight is similar in advantage to humans.
Given their nature of mastering fire elemental magic, it has also been discovered that the bodies and limbs of all Cran are fire-proof.
Genetics and Reproduction
The initial birth of the Cran population is unknown, and attempts to study their numbers reveals that Cran do not reproduce sexually. The population of the Cran has oddly seemed to not change since their initial sightings.
Ecology and Habitats
Cran tend to live peacefully in uninhabited fresh forest environments. They avoid the human population and live where the land is dominated by nature. However, the Cran seem to be attracted to or drawn to the rubble of the destroyed town of Hix.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Biological Cycle
Cran slow down during days of extreme cold, thus their activity in the winter is rare.
Additional Information
Social Structure
The Cran respect the company of other Cran, but are highly territorial against any other creature. There appears to be no structure for any level of dominance. The Cran are capable and willing to team up against any target if their home is threatened. But agianst a Leray wielder challenging one to battle, Cran will only fight individual battles.
Uses, Products & Exploitation
The Cran at the Hix Ruins are protected only because they are thought to be potentially linked to the fire that destroyed the town. Interestingly, the Cran are fire elemental creatures, meaning they can shoot flames from the ends of their limbs. However, the Leray veil of protection should have protected the town and its people from burning, thus are the Cran off the hook for blame. However, it has also been observed that the Cran were only first noticed around the same time the village burned down, putting into the question the origon of these creatures as well as their hidden capabilities.
Average Intelligence
Cran are intelligent enough to conduct Leray battles with other wielders, and seem to prefer a fight every now and then. The Cran cannot speak or communicate with humans, but they all band together in a local group when sensing a human threat to their living zone.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Cran have fair eye sight, similar in power to human eye sight. It is unknown whether or not they can see in color.
Cran however do not have any method of hearing noise, but their body enables them to feel the vibrations through the ground, giving them the ability to track nearby movement without te use of the eyes.
Cran are capable of employing Leray magic against any targets, and often enjoy fighting against humans and sometimes other Cran. Their Leray magic seems limited to the element of fire
