WWDitC Ch. III - Murders Big and Small

General Summary

From the Folk Singer's Journal
November 5 - 7, 1993
I suppose every victory comes with sacrifices, I was foolish to believe my sacrifices for this mission would only be financial in nature.   I now have the handcuffs, the ones that will make it easier than ever for my promising thin-bloods to commit the act that will cement their role among Seattle's kindred society: diablerie. $75K was a small price to pay, I thought these relics were lost to time but a Gangrel reached out to me to let me know about their rediscovery in Alaska earlier this summer! I could not pass up on such an opportunity, even if the two mortals who disrupted the tradeoff were an unwelcome surprise. Hector managed to deal with the two of them in quite a violent fashion, obtaining one of the flashlights (and the hand attached to it) for further investigation. A flashlight that can burn kindred by imitating the power of the sun... Alex and Daphne are investigating the mechanics of this invention, I hope technology such as this remains out of reach from our worst enemies for as long as it takes for us to organize ourselves.   The tradeoff would not have been so successful without my thin-bloods present, but their absence from their domain was quickly abused by the city's kindred. Somebody infiltrated Daphne and Ophelia's dorm building and brutally murdered a young woman, one of particular interest to Hector as she was part of a herd he was beginning to foster. Mortals come and go, but a spectacle this gruesome is liable to break the masquerade if not dealt with quickly.   I've tried reasoning with Rosalita to vouch for the innocence of my thin-bloods, but she's adamant that they are the ones responsbile for overseeing all that happens within their domain. She's meeting with them tonight at some Depeche Mode concert to deliver an ultimatum: find the one responsible for the killing in under five weeks or experience swift executions. We know at the very least that only kindred would be capable of perpetrating such a violent crime in the dead of night, but who would be bold enought to disrupt this fragile balance of power less than a week after its creation?   I've been punished in the past for my optimism, but perhaps this will be the call to action my thin-bloods need to decide on a target for diablerie? One of them must rise to the occasion and take on the responsibilites of dragging Seattle's kindred into the new millennium, what better way to start their reign than by rooting out the reactionary elements of our community? I will do my best to guide them towards the best possible outcomes, but in the end they will be the ones to decide who lives and who dies.

Character(s) interacted with

  • The Gangrel - I hope to do business with her further, it appears to travels all across the Yukon ferrying items and gossip
  • Misty Kirk - Tragically killed mixing with forces she wasn't even aware of
  • Carrie Ziegler - I can see why Hector was so attracted to her, the resonance of her blood is quite acute
  • Rosalita Lee - as Sheriff of Seattle, she showed some exceptional generosity giving my little coterie five weeks to find the one responsible for the university killing
