Viridi Basin (Ver-Dee)

This lowland basin serves as the breadbasket of the entire Kingdom. Taking advantage of the numerous tributaries branching off of the Chilling River & the Frozen Rock Mountains, the wide expanse of grasslands has been cultivated into fertile farmland. With natural barriers on all sides, the region is one of the safest on the Mainland. The combination of security and stability has led the region to be the most populous. Over a hundred small farming villages are dotted across the grasslands and surround two of the largest cities on the Mainland, Crosspoint & Fasting City.

Geography

A collection of vast green fields separated by small streams and creeks like a spiderweb of water. None of these waterways is very large and dependent on the rainfall during the year they shift wildly. Making travel off-road through the region messy, but not difficult. The main roads are raised and reinforced with stone to prevent them from being washed away during the rainy season. They serve a dual purpose of ensuring ease of travel and artificially guiding wandering streams to more desirable areas for farming. This has led to a patchwork of fields and dirt paths around any of the main roads. The less permanent dirt roads serve the same purpose as the stone ones but are maintained by the local farmers.   Traveling beyond the tilled fields, raised farmsteads, and walked roads where travelers can see the beautiful green expanses. Fields of wildflowers blooming along a babbling brook. Cranes fishing for food in reed-filled water. The cool wind blowing out from the Elven Realm in the east. Not even able to become lost with the Clouded Spires & Frozen Rock Mountains in the distance.   The only danger this area truly has is during the rainy season. It is the lowest point of the Civil Realm and as such experiences heavy flooding. The thousands of small creeks overflow and become a sheet of water that washes over the grasslands. Washing away most of the farmlands to be cultivated and sow next season.
