SpiritD6 Traits

As a character advances, they may spend their experience on traits as well as skills. These traits generally grant some kind of additional options or more narrow bonuses than simply adding ranks to skills. A trait may have an associated skill, in which case purchasing the trait requires priming that skill to obtain the trait, and points used to purchase the trait count against the maximum xp that can be assigned to that skill.


  Martial&Physical Traits
Armor Mastery
Cost: 3xp
Effect: Reduce the initiative penalty from wearing armor by 1.


  Iron Skin
Cost: 3xp
Effect: Gain 1 Damage Reduction. This trait may be taken multiple times, up to a maximum of half your endurance.


  Nimble [Tumble]
Cost: 3xp
Effect: Your speed increases by 1 (before armor penalties). This trait may be taken multiple times, up to a maximum of your rank in Tumble.


  Recklessness [Any Melee Weapon Skill]
Cost: 3xp
Effect: When attacking in melee in the action phase, you may spend defense to gain an additional d6 to a single attack roll per point of defense spent. Defense gained from a shield may not be spent this way.


  Weapon Mastery [Any Weapon Skill]
Cost: 4xp
Effect: Choose 1 weapon skill. You may use your ranks in that weapon skill -1 for two other weapon skills that are based on the same attribute.


  Train Attribute
Cost: [2+new attribute value] xp
Effect: Choose 1 attribute. Increase the value of that attribute by 1. Skill experience associated with that attribute is likewise increased by the new value. The cost of this trait depends on the value the attribute is being raised to. Train Attribute cannot be used to increase an attribute higher than the maximum allowed for the character's race.


  Two Weapon defense [Any Weapon Skill]
Cost: 2xp
Effect: As an immediate phase action while wielding two weapons, you may choose to treat one of them as a light shield until your next turn. You may not attack with that weapon while doing this.


  Shield Wall [Any Weapon Skill]
Cost: 2xp
Effect: You may use the defense from a wielded shield to reduce the successes of an attack made against an adjacent character.


 

  Magical traits
Natural Sorcery [Spirit]
Cost: 5xp
Effect: When you use a magical power, you may choose to cap your successes at 1. If you do so, the casting does not cost power points. This requires a magical power source.


 

  Worldly traits
Literacy [Any Language]
Cost: 2xp
Effect: The character is literate, and can read and write any language they speak.


  Routine Craft [Any Creative Skill]
Cost: 3xp
Effect: Choose a skill. Reduce the rank required to attain an amount of successes without rolling by one for that skill.
