SpiritD6 Items

A character may have various kinds of items, from everyday crafting tools to survival equipment, weapons and armor, or even animals. Items usually have an Expense value and a Bulk value. Expense indicates how difficult and costly it is to obtain an item, from worthless trash at 0 to unique artifacts at 10. Bulk also starts at 0 for items with functionally no weight. A creature can carry items with bulk equal to 7+Might+(2xsize) without penalties. The size attribute of a creature modifies the bulk of items sized for that creature.

 

The bulk of any worn suit of armor is reduced by 1 when it is worn.

 

In cases where a bulk 1 item would be reduced to 0 bulk, instead treat it as 0.5 bulk. While bulk 0 items do not necessarily need to be tracked, if a character has large amounts of equipment, they may be considered as 1/5th bulk.

 

A character who is carrying more than their maximum bulk is overburdened. Their speed is reduced by 20%, their initiative is reduced by 4, and they have disadvantage on tumble, stealth, swim, and athletics. A character carrying more than 2 times their maximum bulk has their speed halved and doubles the other penalties. A character carrying more than 3 times their maximum bulk cannot move.

 

As a general rule, every level of expense can be thought of as doubling the cost of the item.

 

Mastercrafted Items: Mastercrafted items add 1 to the expense of the item. In most cases, mastercrafted items function as normal, but mastercrafted tools (other than weapons) allow you reroll a die made with a skill relevant to the tool once per day. In some cases, a mastercrafted tool may be required to even attempt a task that requires an especially precise tool.
