The Fall of Saikar

Commonly Shared Elements

Emperor Rotgerius Saikar was the last ruler of the The Saikar Empire. He was known across the Occupied Territories as a quick to anger, entitled, lazy, and jealous man. He believed that his seat on the throne was a right, and gave to him the ability to sit comfortably on the established throne and distribute all of the work to his councillors, advisors, and other employees, that he might live an easy and luxurious life, needing only to make decisions and bark orders.   At a young age, an Elder Patternist by the name of Horace Thoreau leapt from a trance state, and came to the royal family to speak Prophecy of the Eternal Seat, which declared that Rotgerius' thread was to stretch until the End of Days. For many under the Empire's boot, his rule truly felt like an eternity.   During Rotgerius' reign, there were not expansionist campaigns, no great infrastructure projects, and no work done towards improving or maintaining the lives of the citizenry. The Empire had arrived at a state of stagnation, where the riches, excesses, and lack of strife had made people comfortable. And the corruption began to spread. Within the average and upper class citizenry, it was often expressed in their seduction to vices of all kinds, which ultimately began a decline in productivity and devotion to the Empire. The wealth gap grew more immense, and those on the poor end were forced to work multiple jobs to barely make ends meet, and couldn't find the energy or time to take action against the rot that grew at the heart of their nation. The Empire withered under the eight of its own decadence.   Amongst officials and elites, it was the corruption of greed. The desire for more at the cost of less. The abuse of the citizenry in their blinded state while they remained unprotected by the ultimate authority, and the abuse, theft, and misuse of official resources for personal gain amongst the Guilds. Hedonism and excess consumption was rampant here toom   While all of this went on, Rotgerius continued to turn a blind eye to his officials actions, because he was too focused on his true interest: body modification and technologies to extend his life. And slowly, he sank further and further from the public eye, starying away from his humanity towards machinery, and losing his grip on reality.   When Saber rose up and the revolution began, Rotgerius retreated even further from the public sphere. The war was run by his generals and advisers, and in the final days of war, as the Empire collapsed, nobody knew where he had gotten to.

The last day of the Empire was Styra 9th, of the year 0. In the weeks prior, Saber sieged the planet of Bastion, bombing it into the dark ages.

Uncommon Knowledge

Amongst those who were connected to highly placed elites and the Guilds, it was known that Rotgerius' poor health and failing mental acuity were greatly exacerbated by the stresses of the revolt. Those who advised him knew he was incapable of successfully running the war, and they managed to convince him to approve Emergency War Act, giving the a single council of advisers unquestioned authority over wartime decisions, without the need for Imperial approval. While this went on, Rotgerius' pet Technomancer, Ralas't'ar Dzol had been hard at work. While it remained unknown what her most recent project was, it was well known amongst inner circles that she was responsible for the continued body modification and technological enhancements of the Emperor.
