Cladinus Ergata a.k.a Ergrim Toose
Description
On the shorter end of the gnome spectrum, Cladinus has made to the ripe age of 324 through cunning, luck, and powerful connections. He appears reasonably old, with a long white beard and white hair, a chipper voice and a kindly sparkle in his eyes. To any that speak with him, it would be nearly impossible to discern the dark secrets he holds.
Backstory
Cladinus grew up constantly on the move. His parents worked for the Technomancer's Guild and the Royal Guild Historica as contractors, collecting valuable tech from around the system and selling it to the Guilds. Usually they took Cladinus with them, but when he was 12 they undertook a particularly dangerous venture, and they left him behind with the Technomancers. They would never return. While with the Technomancer's, they discovered he had the ability to channel technomancies. They attempted to train him, but found him to be too impatient and impulsive, eventually kicking him to the street, at the age of 16. He was eventually taken off the streets by the Myriad, and raised to be a thief. During this time, he realized that he had inherited a portion of the lycanthropy curse from one of his parents.
He spent some time working as a fence and a thief, under the guise of operating as a jeweler in the Undermarket. During this period, he devoted a large chunk of his free time to tinkering and crafting. He created a range of tools and toys, but his prized possession was the Gauntlet of the Nightwalker.
Everything would change many years into his time with the Myriad. He had been sent to intimidate and claim payment for protection from a family business, along with a couple of bruisers. When the family insisted they couldn't afford to pay, the bruisers trashed the store, and killed the shop owners wife as a warning. While this was happening, Cladinus had snuck in around back, and found a secret safe with a bag of gems worth 2,000gp. When he came around to say the payment was sorted, he saw the destruction that had been caused, he suddenly felt queasy about the work he was doing. He quietly pocketed the gems, and skipped town the next chance he got, using 1,000gp worth of the gems to get into hiding in the Frostbarrow Coast. He travelled with one of his old friends, Teldrid Griktha, who took a position in the city watch. Cladinus ingratiated himself to the oldest councillor, the agriculture chair, and then secretly poisoned him with Teldrid's help, after his succession of the seat was secured.
It didn't take the Myriad long to find out about his theft, and the bounty was set on him.
