Feywild
The Feywild, also known as the Plane of Faerie, is a vibrant and enchanted reflection of the Material Plane. It exists as a parallel dimension filled with raw magic and breathtaking beauty, but also a place of danger, mischief, and unpredictability. In Realmspace, the Feywild has particular connections to the Forgotten Realms, where its influence is felt through magical phenomena, ancient fey crossings, and myths surrounding the fey.
Features of the Feywild in Realmspace- Lush and Overgrown Landscapes
The Feywild's geography mirrors that of the Material Plane but amplified. Forests are more ancient and tangled, mountains more majestic, and rivers shimmer with colors not seen on the Material Plane. Every aspect of nature in the Feywild is heightened: flowers emit light, seasons shift in moments, and skies are painted with endless hues. - Fey Crossings
Fey crossings are portals linking the Feywild and the Material Plane. These can occur in naturally mystical places like ancient forests, glades under the light of a full moon, or places of great tragedy or joy. In the Forgotten Realms, such crossings are found in locations like the High Forest, the Dalelands, and the Misty Forest. - Time and Memory Distortions
Time flows unpredictably in the Feywild. A traveler might spend a day in the Feywild only to find that years have passed in the Material Planeāor vice versa. Similarly, memories of visits to the Feywild often fade or become dreamlike upon returning to the Material Plane. - Fey Courts and Powers
The Feywild is ruled by powerful fey entities, most notably the Seelie Court (aligned with light and summer) and the Unseelie Court (aligned with shadow and winter). These courts are presided over by Archfey like Titania, Queen of Summer, and the Queen of Air and Darkness. They are often involved in schemes and rivalries that may spill into Realmspace. - Enchanted Creatures and Phenomena
Creatures like dryads, satyrs, and pixies roam the Feywild, alongside more dangerous beings like hags, redcaps, and fomorians. The environment itself can be hostile, with paths that shift, enchanted fogs, and illusions that lead travelers astray. - Connections to Myth and Legend
In the Forgotten Realms, the Feywild is tied to myths of the Tel'Quessir (elves) and their ancestors, the fey. Ancient elven cities like Myth Drannor are thought to have deep connections to the Feywild, as are certain deities like Corellon Larethian and Sehanine Moonbow. - Stars and Realmspace Influence
The Feywild's sky is its own, with constellations that dance and shift. However, in Realmspace, there may be points where the Feywild influences celestial phenomena, such as comets that inspire fey activity or stars that act as waypoints for planar travel.
