Shadow Knights

The Story of the Shadow Knights of Therialia
Once upon a time, there was a knight of great humility who gave his life to prevent an assassination. The whole kingdom mourned the brave young man, for several months. He was honoured in death, unfortunately, single without offspring. When the new King came under danger, the brave knight rose as a ghost, coming to his king's defence supernaturally. The King recognised him and attempted to talk to him.   Although the ghost was unable to communicate besides a sharp salute and a bow, rumours grew that a soldier's ghost was patrolling the countryside. It is believed the ghost will reappear when the King is in deadly peril.
Another version (thought to be the cleanest form of the story)
A long time ago, when the lands of Therialia were young and chaos ruled over the planet, the Great King Regis of Zolotoya Drakona went hunting Grenedels in the forest.   The King was young and fool hardy with inexperience. Accompanied by a small troop of elite knights as personal bodyguard, he was bold enough to encroach on unfamiliar territory.   A band of outlaws ambushed the hunting party. The number of bandits outnumbered the knights three to one, although the knights were not daunted from their duty. While battle commenced around him, the King was vulnerable. Witnessing an assassin take aim at the King, one of the knights surged forward, taking the shot that was meant for the young man.   Dying at the castle of wounds, the knight was mourned for several weeks and a day of remembrance was introduced to honour the knight.   Several months later, in another battle, the King came under fire again. The dead knight appeared to defend their king, and with a salute and a bow, disappeared once more. It is believed that this Shadow Knight will rise up again to defend the King of the Therialians when they are in great peril.

The details of this legend are obscure. No exact date, historical King or even location can be verified through any known sources. The heroic knight is even believed to have been female in some cases of the story, as Therialians have had female knights since prehistory days. The majority of experts believe it is more likely to be a man, possibly connected to the king's family.]

Love the premise of honor even in death from this lone knight. Is he tied to the throne or maybe the new King by blood? Great job!

Thanks. It is sort of a legend with little particles of truth and caught up in a prophecy, but I am trying to get people of the story to underestimate its truth.
