The Next Chapter

The Next Chapter is an Athean-made romance drama in which the main character, played by actress Jina Zerron, is recovering and moving on from a recent divorce.
The show first aired in 2408 ACF.

Plot

Rana had been married to her college sweetheart, Kell, for over a decade with them sharing a comfortable life and house, with Rana giving up her prosperous career as a lawyer to become a housewife at the insistence of her husband.
The marriage had soured over the years, with Kell lacking respect and care for Rana and the couple drifting apart. One day, while trying to rekindle their relationship and visit him spontaneously at work, Rana discovered that her husband was having an affair.
Now, months after having her world shattered, Rana must pick up the pieces of her life and start over from scratch leaving behind her former home and lifestyle. She has moved in with her best friend Ishi -who was also her divorce attorney- and is trying to get back into the career field by going to work at the same law firm Ishi works at.
During this time Rana meets a a charming paralegal at work, Laen, who also went through a divorce years earlier and has a young son. They bond over their shared experience as divorcees and begin to develop feelings for each other.
The show follows Rana as she recovers from the divorce and grows closer to Laen while Kell tries to win her back. There are occasional flashbacks to Rana’s childhood, the early days of her dating Kell, and what happened during the divorce.
There are additional subplots surrounding Zenni -Kell’s affair partner- as well as ones surrounding Laen’s ex-wife.
The show ends with Rana and Laen starting a romantic relationship and Kell being left alone and miserable.

Reception

The show was met with great acclaim and was very popular on many planets.
Jina Zerron, the main lead on the show got great applause for her acting on the show and was even nominated for some awards. She did not win any and is considered by many to have been snubbed.
