Spacecraft, are a type of transportation through space, also called spaceships. They are manned, or automated, vessels designed for space travel.
Spacecrafts of medium or large size class are normally fitted with a Subluminal engine that allows for
Faster-than-Light Travel.
In order to fly a spacecraft, people require a license for the smaller class and special training, and a special license to man the larger class ships.
Ship Types
There are different ship types for different purposes.
Assault Ships
Assault ships are spacecraft designed for space defense and attack. They are mostly owned by military or security organizations as the accessibility to these armed ships are limited to prevent violence.
Assault Cruiser
Used for space defense and attacks, tend to be quite big in the medium or large class. Almost always owned by the military/government and made for deep space warfare. They require a large crew of officers in order to work properly.
Attack Fighter
Small maneuverable ships that are used to attack other fighters or bigger ships. Because of their use of main guns they are commonly also called gunships. The smaller models are also called dogfighters due to their use in dog fights.
Bomber Ships
Bomber ships, more commonly called bombers, are small maneuverable ships used in bomb attacks on a ground location. Some are a bit bigger being a more medium size and have a small crew, but most are small and are run by one or two people. They can have just the cabin or may have a few rooms alongside a bathroom.
Transport Ships
Transport ships are used to transport items and people across long distances. Comes in a range of sizes and uses. Could be from across planets or from planet to planet or across many different systems to the far corners of the galaxies. Could be commercial, private, or military-owned. Some have weapons, but most non-military-owned ones don’t.
Shuttlecraft
Shuttlecraft are small ships attached to a mother ship, used for transporting passengers and cargo to and from the ship as well as for going where the mother ship cannot.
Cargo Ships
Cargo ships are ships used to transport cargo across distances. They tend to be small or medium-sized ships. They may also be called freighters or barges as well as cargo ships. They also tend to have a small crew of only a few people and some are entirely unmanned and run by technology.
Passenger Ships
Passenger ships are used to transport people across a long distance. Come in all sizes but tend to be small or medium ships but longer-range transports tend to be large class. Most passenger ships in the core worlds are unmanned and run by technology and the farther away you get or the cheaper the transport the more likely it is to be run by a small crew. Many types are long and skinny like a train
Fuel Carriers
Fuel carriers are specific ships are designated to transport fuel. They tend to be medium or large depending on their range. Are manned by a small crew or by technology.
Luxury Ships
Luxury Ships are used for luxury personal use for fun or for vacation. Tend to be privately owned and quite expensive. They have no weapons unless modified.
Yacht
A luxury ship that can hold multiple people and is used for parties or vacations. Tend to be medium or small-sized and have little to know weapons or defenses.
Speeders
Speeders are small, fast, agile ships used for racing or for flashy transportation.
Scientific Ships
Scientific ships are ships used for scientific advancement and exploration. They come and variety of sizes and are more of a use for a ship than a type.
Exploration Ships
Exploration Ships are ships used for exploring and surveying places. Tend to be medium-sized with a small crew.
Colony Ships
Colony ships are ships used to transport ships and colonists to distant planets for colonization. Most are made to be able to break apart into different ships and are easily adapted into other structures and uses. They tend to be medium or large depending on how big the colony group is. They may also be designed to last generations depending on how far away or difficult it is to get to their destination. This type of ship is rare due to the development of faster-than-light travel and is considered an antiquated way of colonization.
