Lurilian - Species

Lurilians are a sentient humanoid species native to the planet Lurilia.

Physiology

Lurilians are humanoids with very similar base physiology to humans. They on average are around five to five-and-a-half feet tall and have five digits on each hand and foot. They lack eyebrows, but have spare body and facial hair and grow hair on their head.   They tend to have quite wide and round faces, with large eyes; irises are most commonly brown but other colors like yellow, hazel, or green are also common. Blue or grey eyes are extremely rare in Lurilians and are non-dominant traits. Lurilians have better night vision than other species in part due to their large eyes but also due to their neural circuits being wired in a way that allows them to perceive edges, movement, and silhouettes in dim light.   Lurilians also tend to have sharp canine teeth that can be quite sharp and used for protection or hunting. They have two-pronged pointed ears and tall rounded -slightly scaly- brow ridges in place of eyebrows.   Luriliran skin comes in a range of greens and teals often with yellowish tints and undertones to it. Their skin is also slightly scaly with bumps and divots all over; the scaliest sections are often the shoulders, back, cheeks, and forehead and often are also more yellow than other parts of the skin.   Their hair is often curly or kinky, with wavy hair also being possible. Straight hair is uncommon. In color, their hair is often black or brown, sometimes with lighter more yellow gradations or highlights. Other hair colors like red and blonde are rare and are nondominant traits that are extremely uncommon.   The compound Cadrine is toxic to Lurilians and is toxic to their neural system and immune systems. Cadrine poisoning can be deadly if left untreated and overall makes a person very ill and sickly, with the most common symptoms being poor coordination, vomiting, and stomach pain. Cadrine poisoning can be treated with modern medicine but often will still result in lifelong health complications.

Other Traits

Lurilians live a very similar lifespan to humans often only living to around a hundred years old depending on living conditions and health.
