Enkorians are a sentient species from the high-gravity planet Enkor.
Physiology
Enkorians are a large, stocky species tending to only stand at around five feet tall, although they tend to appear much taller when fully stood as they have a naturally hunched spine. They have long thick arms and shorter stockier legs. They have four digits on each hand and foot, with the hands being symmetrical with an opposable thumb on either side of the hand.
Enkorians also have a stubby tail, that gives them more stability when standing and can have weight put on it. They also tend to have a wide build and shoulders, this is especially prevalent in males of the species.
They tend to have leathery skin ranging in color between brown and yellow, with their backs tending to be darker in color compared to their front. They may also have darker striped markings along their backs, arms, and faces.
They have wide faces with wide thin mouths. The backs of the head and upper back -including the neck- are also covered in scaly armor plates.
They have small round, deep-set eyes that tend to be brown or black. They also have internal ears, with the sound reaching them via a small hole on either side of their head. They have vertical slit nostrils, like a snake, which tend to be quite flat on the face.
In response to the higher gravity on their home planet, Enkorians have developed a few different biological traits that have helped them survive. For example, they have large lungs, as well as three air sacks, which they have developed to help them breathe the air on their high-gravity, thick atmosphere homeworld and keep upright.
They also have higher bone and muscle density, especially when compared to species from planets with lower gravity when compared to Enkor, and more muscular veins and arteries to help their blood circulate against the gravitational forces. Due to their high muscle and bone density, they have heightened strength when in lower-gravity environments.
Other Traits
Enkorians require more food intake than many other species and require up to 5000 calories a day. This has affected their diets and food culture to be bigger with more meals.
Enkorians have similar, albeit slightly shorter lifespans, when compared to humans with Enkorians tending to live on average to be seventy years old.
