Sardonicus is the marker star for the sector and is the site of a joint-run military installation equally split between the League and UFP starforces. A small mining operation employing civilians is run alongside the base to offset some of the costs of maintaining a permanent base in such a remote and hostile position.
The system is a stopping point for nearly all of the League - UFP intersector traffic but no ships land on the planet due to the hostility of the environment, all stop-offs are at the orbital facility. Tourists will find little of interest in system and most are quite happy to see the planet from orbit for a short time while any necessary bureaucracy is dealt with before the ship warps out for the next leg of the journey. The whole place is frightfully dull.
