The Pharos Nebulosity is an astronomical enigma due to the fact that it has all the normal composition of a supernova remnant with a powerful energy source with a high gravity field but the actual size of the dust cloud is much too small for it to have been formed by such an event. The nebulosity is expanding at a slow rate and extrapolation gives its formation date as approximately 8,000 years ago. At its centre it has a high gravitation field which is capable of intruding on the hyperspatial field of a passing spaceship and is therefore designated as a Class 1 interstellar navigational hazard and all ships are warned to not plot a course that passes within three light years of its location.
