Monitor III is a newly-discovered (by the Federation and League) planet with no apparent connections to the mainstream Invincible Realm of Hssss'tah. It was 'found' in 2538 and how long the planet has been in contact with the Hegemony prior to that date is unknown. Since 2538 the local Hegemony has been incorporating Monitor into it's power structure. Contact Service personnel have been able to ascertain that initially the government were not at all belligerent to non-Hiss but with increased influence from the Hissss'ist planets in the League, the stance has become more harsh and trade become more tenuous, now much more limited to Friends of the Hissss'ist and other allied traders. The relatively low population level on a planet of this size allows for development that may be unavailable on other Hissss'ist planets. The economy is classed as Poor Industrial but a large proportion of the exports are food for other Hissss'ist planets. Monitor is self-sufficient in metals and chemicals because as well as the planetary resources there is a gas-giant tap and asteroid mining operation in place. These operations are short of the high-tech equipment needed for efficient operation and the lack of such equipment is currently hampering efforts to increase the overall tech level of the system.
