Arionne is a young planet in a transition period between jungle and forest, and evidences considerable amounts of volcanic activity, especially in the equatorial regions. The ecology is in a delicate equilibrium, with a low stability index. The main evidence to support this is the presence of microbes in the upper atmosphere and the characteristic transition phase in the animal kingdom. This is in the middle mammalian stage but there is still some evidence of old reptilian dominance.
The two main predators are
a) The Agralaka, a forest bear of 'G' size massing 400 - 420 kg with terrible 'C' claws, 'K' armour and average movement.
b) The Gurr'ack'oocha, a large 'A' sized quadruped lizard massing around 1.500 kg at maturity with a 'B' bite attack, 'I' skin armour and fast movement.
The sentient canine / pithecines are a peculiar composite of tech level. Although the communications, mining, production and agriculture are all high tech/5 levels, the weaponry and luxury items are still at tech/2-3 and although fierce in defending kin and honour, all combat between individuals is strictly regulated and not usually to the death. The ferocious nature of the pithecines is still very evident and is shown mainly in hunting.
Though they obviously appreciate technology, they do not want their lives to be ruled by it. Their social organisation is along the lines of a constitutional monarchy, but social status and advancement can be earned by hard work. In their work there is a peculiar attitude towards the beasts of burden which seem to enjoy almost as many privileges as the pithecines themselves.
