The Mercenary Draft
Basically a televised sports drafting event. - Since mercs are so highly sought after, and their adventures are grand, and the amount of money circulating is so vast, they decided to televise the events of drafting mercenaries and create an annual event. Warlords and mercenaries attend an annual dinner awards show. Also the only time Mercs can be traded. This event has reached mainstream in the galaxy. While authorities and politics don’t reach Caleco or the surrounding systems, they do enjoy the spectacle of what happens out there. The contracts for becoming and remaining a merc are incredibly strict and you basically become a slave after signing. Leaving or breaching a contract is expulsion, exile and sometimes death. Good luck trying to find a job if any of this happens.
Being in the draft means money and fame. Fame is nice but not as important as the money. Eventually she will realize the fame can be used to her benefit. She is always becoming indebted to other people trying to complete jobs. Becoming everyones bitch in her pursuit of happiness.
