Rabino Beren Poucasboas
Born around 1373 in the mountainous enclave of Naerdoden, Rabino was a son of a guard and a washerwoman. In youth, Poucasboas developed a fascination for the sea. After reaching adulthood, which is forty years in the case of gnomes, Rabino decided to leave his homeland and travel to Coralmar, the birthplace of piracy in Southset. One of the reasons why he decided to do so was that staying in Naerdoden would have meant becoming a member of the royal guard like his father, a prospect he quite dreaded. At some point, Rabino befriended Captain Alvares Coral, whom he considered "a fine man but kind of arrogant".
A curious man with an itch to uncover all sorts of mysteries hidden in the sea, as a first mate on Alvares Coral's ship, Rabino visited all the islands that surrounded Coralmar and Serpent's Path, as well as distant lands of Northnest. Some time later, after uncovering The Compass on an island, he bacame fascinated with it, and after Alvares Coral's abrupt death, took possession of the item and never showed it to anyone, saying that that compass was the answer to everything, and nobody but him could have it.
Nowadays, Rabino Poucasboas is the captain of the Way of the Compass, and always looking for new crewmates to go on his adventures.
