Hana no ōi tochi

The Hana no ōi tochi, meaning Land of Many Flowers in Sea Elf, is a large religiously significant Island and temple to the Sea Elf Goddess Ioun and is one of the few holdings of Teikoku open at least partially to outsiders as its port accepts pilgrims from the neighboring Isle of Mangroves to the temple complex.

Geography

Much of the islands inner workings is a mystery as only the temple complex is a permitted location for outsiders. The Island itself is a mountainous crescent lagoon, with the inner temple at the center. Rumors speak of a great land of glowing flowers and spirits that permit the priestess' to preform their work of prophecies and practice a magic with the many spirits that may bleed into this world. However little can be certain for explorers who wander out of the temple complex find themselves rarely home.

Localized Phenomena

Rumor has it the isle was built at the place where Ioun ascended and since then has left holds in the realm that allow passage to the ethereal plane and the astral sea and remains one of the few such portals open to the world and not sealed by the Sacred Band as the Sea Elves will not permit it. Here many Sea Elves seek wisdom and prophecies from the noble families of priestess' and it is said that the island allows them to see deeper truths only Ioun could know and prophecies given are seen as law.

Fauna & Flora

The one thing known is the island is covered in flowers only seen there, and rare samples have shown magic residing in them of powers only seen in places like The Desolation.

History

The Isles history is more of legend than recorded at least to imperial scholars. It is said many families of priests once hailed from there each with a flower to their name. Of them the eldest and wisest would one day assume the mantle of Ioun and achieve divine knowledge and wisdom. It is this goddess, it is said, that protects the island and permits the spirits and pilgrims of good intention to walk safely, and that this goddess has kept the island safe through calamity after calamity.

Tourism

The Isle is often filled with Sea Elf petitioners and pilgrims, elven worshipers as well. Even the clergy of the Imperial Church of Myrrine are seen to travel there and seek the wisdom of a competing god. Though tourism is common it is restricted to the temple city of the same name.
