The Sisterhood

We live in a dangerous world, there is no denying that. People do what they can to protect themselves, in whatever form that takes.   Sometimes it's a gun, while others it's paying for your protection.   The Sisterhood is the latter idea.   The origin of the gang remains a mystery, as does its found members and location. They seemed to come out of nowhere and simply exploded across the UNAC, and in short order ended up across the seas as well. Rome, Madrid, London, and many other cities have branches set up and deeply root themselves within a community.   Their purpose seems to be the protection of civilian lives, something that they do with surprising efficacy. They have access to military-grade weapons and Soul Grafts to a frightening degree. Most other street gangs are hesitant to go toe-to-toe with the Sisterhood, prefering to simply ignore their territory or pay them off when necessary. This is further supplemented by the fact that the Sisterhood doesn't attempt to break into the drug of trafficking trade on the organizational level, so there isn't often a lot of overlap between the Sisterhood and their neighbors.   Their largest money maker are their "tithes", which they take from their protected neighborhoods and regions. GIven the quality of protection that the Sisterhood provides, many wouldn't considered them having to "take" their tithes, but keep in mind that the sisterhood chooses the regions that they protect, and those regions can't always pay in the manner the Sisterhood demands.

Structure

At the top of the org chart is the Abess Cardinal, currently one Theresa de Villar, or Angela Serrano if you want to use legal records. She sits above the Canoness Cardinali, each of who is is in command of a region of the gang's territory, and the many orders each region contains. Currently, there are nine Canoness Cardinali.   That is the upper structure of the gang. The lower is made up of the Orders, who control the compartmental areas that make up the region a Canoness Cardinali oversees. For example, the Canoness Cardinali who oversees the Sisterhood operations in the UNAC area has nearly a hundred Orders to keep track of, with each Commonwealth containing several Orders spread out. Each Order is led by a Prioress, who in turn commands the individual Missions of her Order.   The Mission is the smallest organizational structure within the Sisterhood and is led by a Mother. A city or town usually has a single Mission, though the largest cities out there can have two or three in an attempt to cover as much ground as the Sisterhood needs to. Each Mission has a series of Convents across the city, which act as a safehouses for civilians and places of living for gang members. It should be said that the Convents don't usually have much individual identity past the internal culture of their overhead Mission.

Culture

While many of the street gangs of the corporate century are rather strange in their insular cultures, the Sisterhood stands out in their mainly religious-inspired focus. They use a series of Saints and Martyrs as icons of adulation and reverence, which provides them a particular calm of mind and focused purpose in their pursuits.

Many of the members of the gang maintain a sort of reserved composure that is drawn from the legitimate nun roots of the gang, which has furthered the gang's image and often causes the locals to trust them quickly, even when heavily augmented.   That being said the gang is still exactly that, a gang. When the Sisterhood has moved into a place and it becomes times to tithe, they don't take no for an answer.
