Umbra Domain
The Umbra Domain is a relatively small group of highly trained professional rangers who hunt underdark creatures and defend the portals that would allow them to enter the world. They protect the world from these creatures, but choose not to interact on a large scale politically, fearing that it would impair their abilities to stop breaches in the territory of other nations.
The rangers accept anyone who is willing to dedicate their life to the cause, and so the Umbra Domain is made up of people of all different backgrounds. The openness and lack of strict rules makes it so that many of the rangers end up wherever their hunt takes them, often collaborating with adventurers to secure a breach or even permanently as a member of the group.
The Umbra Domain is not forgiving when it comes to those breaking their code, and to their enemies “Mercy” is not a part of their language. They are known to be quite cold individually, resulting in a form of mysticism surrounding them and rumors behind their backs. Not many rangers exist in Sotharia, so they stand out when they are seen in the small towns and villages in which they prefer to operate. They do not like to be in large cities, viewing it as a waste of their time when there is already a large guard force usually protecting them.
Demography and Population
Most of the population of the Umbra domain is made of drow and humans, in a roughly 50/50 split. Some other races do inhabit their territory, but not in significant enough numbers to factor into the census here
Territories
They formally occupy the area above and surrounding the portal to the underdark, but very few other territories other than that beyond scattered pockets of other portals throughout the world.
Military
The military of this organization is a formidable force made up of the Umbra Rangers, people who are trained in all manners of weapons for many years.
Foreign Relations
This organization is on neutral/friendly terms with most of its neighbors, and has an isolationist policy on all matters except to aid in underdark breach containment. This creates some friction with the Jorhan’s
